Default What kind of car to take a road trip with infant

So we are planning a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June. We have a 3 month old girl. We're planning to drive in the late afternoon closer to her nap hours. It's a good 6 - 7 hr drive, plus any unexpected stops. I'm not sure what's the best vehicle to go with. Wanted to hear anyone with experience and have advice on what to do.

I have a couple of options:

1/ drive my own SUV, a Porsche Cayenne GTS
pro: I'll be happy as a driver, and it's my own car
con: not enough room to change diapers inside the car, so we'll have to find a truck stop and open the trunk and take stuff out before we can change diapers on the trunk bed.

2/ rent a full size SUV. Most rental company provides a Chevy Tahoe.
pro: bigger than my own SUV, but not sure if it's big enough to do the diaper change inside the car.
con: not sure, probably bad MPG? Rental car may not be clean enough for baby.

3/ rent a minivan, probably end up with a Dodge Caravan
pro: it's a car meant for hauling children.
con: horrible to drive. Rental car may not be clean enough for baby.

Take your own. Change diaper in passenger seat or your lap.

Drive your own, lay changing pad on passenger's seat or rear seat. A 6-7 hour drive with an infant is super easy as she will likely sleep nearly the entire trip. My daughter who will be 2 later this month has been on 4 different road trips (from 4 to 8 hours) and 5 different round trip flights ranging from 2.5 hours to 8 hours, she just got back from Ireland with my wife on Tuesday. She travels great..... Start them early and they will be troopers.

I did that trip many times with one infant, then an infant and a three year old after we had our second. We had a Tahoe, but since you just have one kid, take your own car. We just used the back seat, front seat, cargo area, restaurant or really anywhere.

Have a safe trip!

thanks for the advice! I've decided to take my own car. I just have to pack smartly so I have enough room to take the stroller and all the gears for the 12b human. =)

actually the first 3 nights we will be in the inland empires, around Moreno Valley. The 2nd half of the week we will be around Long Beach, so it's a bit further than 5.5hrs.
