Just saying... since I have them both and some relative experience in much more refined machines also. Just a different perspective...

BTW - the GT350R has no back seat
I was basing my thoughts on the GT350R time at N-ring being 3 seconds slower than the ZL1. The ZL1 also beat the Corvette Grand Sports time at Big Willow. That was with the manual, supposedly the 10speed is even faster. Gotta say, the ZL1 sounds like a beast with a backseat and an incredible value/money.

The Gen 6 ZL1 is an awesome car for the money. They are starting to offer some nice discounts on them now as well. It's not a Corvette but it is a bad-assed car.

I love the look of the ZL1. I looked on youtube, and its speed seems to be neck-and-neck with the Hellcat. And it will undoubtedly kill it on a track.

Anyone know whether you can get it with the removable roof?

Thanks!

Pretty sure they are making a vert, but not a removable like the C7. Personally I don't need the removable roof.

First impression is that its father was a Camaro.
That and the fact that "high performance" big hp motors are getting stuck into a lot of cars so the car manufacturers can capitalize on the baby boomers reliving their youth with their 6 figure salaries.
Look at the Cadillac....it ain't my dead Father-in-Law's car anymore. Thank God for both.....

And a sports car to me has always meant 2 seats max and only if there is a chick in the other one....lol

Well I went for the ZL1, still have my supercharged 15 stingray (it's was faster than the z06 anyway lol)

Gotta say, it's heavier but more refined, daily driver and gives you the power that literally shocks people and you don't even feel it. Love both cars, but for some reason I feel more comfortable in the ZL1.

So I guess it's back to muscle car for me for a while, but hey that ZR1 is around the corner :-).

Thanks for the replies

Was it a 2015 supercharged stingray ? Or a 2016 z06 A8 that you presently own?

Either way...the ZL1 is an awesome ride. Congrats

It's fast, but I have no desire to own one. I'd have a gt350, gen5 z28, or a hellcat over it. It just doesn't feel special.

Congrats. Which trans did you go with?
Any thoughts on how the ZL1 and Z06 compare? I am contemplating trading my 13 ZL1 or my GS on one or the other.

So tough a question! Went with manual, the A8 in my Z06 scared me off automatics no matter what the new 10 speed review says lol....All I can say is that it seems more of a daily driver with a "nuke" option when you get on it., won't go over 3k rpm just to break it in safely ,It literally transforms. Car's still new, less than 500 miles on ODO so I can't really say a whole lot yet but power wise that LT4 is all there! There are times I miss the sexy great sharp handling of the Z06 but I just take the supercharged stingray out and get that out of my system.

so far COMPLETELY SATISFIED!

I'm also looking to sell my '15 Vette and go with a ZL1 10 speed. It seems to have pretty much everything I want and can throw my 3 year old in the back if we want to go out as a family.

The new ZL1 is a great car. I have gotten a ride in a new A10 ZL1 and was very impressed with it's performance. For the money it is also a great bang for the buck. The car is smaller and lighter than the car it replaces and just an overall badass.

i have a 17 z06/z07 M7

sorry about your A8. GM really failed on this trans reliablity issues.

i have kids as well. I just drive an Yukon Denali for them.

I considered the zL1 as well but only the 1LE.

I went from an 07 z06 to a 15 z/28 two years ago and hated it. Terrible visability and to big/heavy.

the back seats in the 6th are smaller than the 5th which were pointless.

If you need back seats, 3rd gen ctsv is the ticket imho

i did the opposite

i traded my 15 z/28 for a 17 z06/z07 M7 It was nice but no comparison to my Z

This car is the real deal. Only 17 M7's get extra auxiliary radiators. This car will run hard all day long in the Texas summer heat.

As far as I know the only major problem w the c7z's has been fixed from GM.

No more hating on these car's!

Don't read the August 2017 Motor Trend, you may not like what it has to say. Basically it states that the Mustang GT350R is a better car than the ZL1. Could've fooled me as I wouldn't even consider the GT350R but really considered the ZL1. The ZL1 is faster in a straight line and on the track, however Motor Trend uses it's magical fairy dust to proclaim the winner. Both of these cars are manual transmission.

....and this is why I don't pay much attention to these car magazines.

I ended up selling my C7 and picked up a ZL1 with the A10. Awesome car and I like it a lot more than the Corvette. One the way home from picking it up, I stopped by a fellow forum member's house and showed him the car. He went out the next morning and traded his C7 on a ZL1 as well.

I'm looking right now to do the same thing. I just need to find the right deal. The gt350r is ridiculous even if you wanted one. Who the fsck would pay 25k adm or more for one of those?
