Ban the Demon?

Ban the Demon?
I found an article on FOX News Website. The excerpt below calls for the banning of the Demon. I for one, am not for banning a product because it could be dangerous. Realistically, aren't all cars potentially dangerous? Thoughts?
Trade publication Automotive News has called for the new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to be banned in a scathing editorial regarding the muscle car titled “Keep the Dodge Demon off our roads.”
The outlet called the 808 hp Demon “inherently dangerous to the common safety of motorists,” even while admitting there are other “more powerful, and even faster vehicles available from other automakers that are rightly street legal.”

More liberal nonsense. You can either educate then trust people or you can just deprive them. I would rather be educated then trusted.

Another day, another editorial instance of moral indignation about something, somewhere, from someone.

Calling for a ban on the Demon is insane, but I wonder what the over/under is on how many of the 3000 will be totaled within the first few months of release.

I think it's ridiculous. But I also think street racing, 'driving in Mexico', roll racing, and various other activities that place the general public at risk are also ridiculous.
People should be able to own whatever they wish, but with great power comes great responsibility.
All that said, the F-150 coming the other way on a 2-lane highway while the guy is texting worries me a LOT more than the odds being hit by a Demon because it's "too powerful".

Agree with the above thoughts. The odds being taking out by a texting jackass, opioid addict, stinking drunk, or general idiot put the risk of Demons and other high power cars down in the noise.
There are certainly idiots driving high powered cars but one of the more memorable incidents for me was watching a kid in an underpowered POS passing people on the two lane rural highway ahead of me. The only way he made it around the cars he was passing is because the car being passed would hit the brakes so he could get back in line ahead of them. I dropped back because I didn't want to be near him or the accident he was getting ready to cause but fortunately the only thing that happened was he tried to cut back in line too sharply and lost it ending up sunk in a newly plowed field-hopefully he got a good father son talk out of that one.

I guess this thread was moved. I thought it would be of interest to all car enthusiasts regardless of what kind of car it was. It is about banning horsepower and high performance factory vehicles. We should all be concerned when "supposed" car magazines talk about banning ANY vehicle because of horsepower and/or track-worthy-ness. Right?

Scraping the splitter.
The guy that wrote that article is an idiot.
There are literally dozens of models of other vehicles that don't handle or stop as well as the Demon and present an even bigger danger on public roads.
Big, heavy, cumbersome pickups and SUV's sell by the hundreds of thousands every year. They aren't being banned. My Ram 2500 Cummins won't stop or handle anywhere near as well as a Demon. It weighs over 8500# and would crush a great many other cars on the road due to the bumper heights and weight. It's not being banned.
The guy is an idiot who is simply trying to get readers because he's a boring writer and could use the attention.
