The car looks breathtaking to me, elegant, refined, etc. However, it is slow as hell compared to the z06 with a recent dyno showing 350tq and does not come in a manual. Sigh, here's some pics:

It's no sports car, it's a luxury coupe. It's certainly something to look at, not sure if I like it or not. I can't say I'd buy one. The Lexus V8 does sound great though, so it's probably enjoyable if you don't have to beat every car at the stop light. I'm ok with rhat, modern sports cars have lost the driving pleasure in favor of bragging rights. The new c7z is a classic example of it.

For my money, I'd buy a Viper.

Ill agree that it's a sweet looking ride with what looks to be a dynamite interior. The high revving, low torque power plant in a portly curb weight car is a deal breaker. A good looking ride with sub par performance is about it. For the money you could do much better. Lexus needs to start looking into turbo/supercharging if it doesn't drastically trim some curb weight.

Duh...it's aimed at a different market than the Z06 is. That's why it doesn't have a supercharged 650 horsepower engine.

This will be the "settle car"; as in it'll be for the owner that's not willing to pony up the $40K more for the i8 (or possibly can't, as it's a two seat coupe) or the limited use for the Type F R, but can justify an up-scale 2+2 tourer at prices below either of those. You'll probably see these less than you would have seen an SC430.

For me though it does have really good styling. A lot of people like to bash that Lexus/Toyota front they all seem to have now but it really works on this car. The side profile and the rear are also very elegant. I do like that Lexus is trying to harken back to the SC300/400 a bit with it also, albeit they may have pushed the car to be a bit too niche' in this segment.

Lexus copied the Corvette C7's passenger grab bars and the rear lights in which the lights come down vertically (when seen from the rear), and the Michelin Super Sport ZP tires and they're the same width 245 front and 275 rear which is almost Corvette Stingray's 285 rear.

Lexus does not offer a manual transmission for fun.

A Corvette Stingray will eat it for breakfast. A Camaro SS probably will too.
Lexus is slower at 4.8 seconds 0-60 mph versus Stingray's 3.7 seconds.
Lexus is slower at 13.3 seconds 1/4 mile versus Stingray's 12 seconds.
Lexus brakes longer 60-0 mph at 114 feet versus Stingray's 93 feet.
Lexus cornering cannot break the 1G force (it's .94G) versus Stingray's 1+ lateral G force.

Lexus top speed is 168mph versus Stingray's 190mph.
Lexus wheelspin is slightly and not even possible in hybrid version.

Lexus is heavy (1000lbs more), as it does not have a carbon hood or carbon underbody panels. Lexus carbon roof is optional whereas Corvette is standard.

Lexus does not have Apple Carplay, just like other Lexus vehicles.

Lexus trunk is a tiny 5.4 cubic feet versus Corvette's 15 cubic feet.

It's a good looking car, but give yourself about 3 extra detailing hours to get the bugs out of that gaping grille. Holy smokes that's big.

Yeah, the two are not comparable. Large luxury coupe with a base price $40k over the Corvette.

FYI, Murcielago has had that center grab handle design from 2002-2010. Both F-Type and Viper have one of similar design and the C7 was released after them. It's a common design.

Interesting that Lexus produced a near duplicate to its concept car.

The flat low hood is sexy and the entire car is interesting to view.

I'm not sure I'd call it pretty but it is unique.

I'd pass on this behemoth as it's more luxury than sports car.

Today's market for 2 doors is waning. I think sports cars mixed with awd cuvs will be the next halo vehicles.

I believe the Porsche Macan is the first and Lamborghini has one ready for the show circuit.

Lexus IS just following the old pattern of halo vehicles to garner some showroom traffic.

It's nice, it'll probably run for many hundreds of thousands of miles relatively easily and painlesslessly for its future owners...

There is just no passion in it.

Daring without question and for that I give it high marks.

Just wouldn't want to own one...especially at 100 grand..

The hybrid is a loser deal...a supercharged v8 if it could fit under the hood would help its sports" image...

I'd buy a 911S for a two plus two over the Lexus for around the same money..
