I logged tens of thousands of miles on my dad's YukonXL, Tahoe and Denal (swb). If you're towing, opt for the 6.2. These SUVs are fantastic.

Sold my Lexus 460 to get 2015 Tahoe LTZ. Lexus could barely get itself up a hill much less towing a small loaded box trailer. If you are into the warranty thing know that 2015 has 100,000 mile power train warranty and 2016+ is now 60,000 mile warranty.
Only issue for me is both front shocks went out at 50k, the LTZ are about $500 each, (just after warranty). When at a stop light in drive the idle is at 480 rpm and non adjustable. I may be picky but that low causes vibration for entire veh. GM said it is a set idle and that is it, but park and neutral it goes up to 550 rpm and smooth, they did change throttle body for free but no change. Inside leather and all trim is much better, very nice with heated and cooled seats. Carbon buildup? no issue now over 55k Runs and pulls strong.

My wife has driven a new Chevy or GMC full size since 1985 (about 12 of them )with one Bronco .Bronco gave us more trouble than all GM's put together .Great ride ,decent fuel mileage, high resale .

I have a 2008 Tahoe LT 2wd 5.3 with 167k miles. Engine and drivetrain is all good. (knock on wood). The interior is built super cheap. i have rattles and squeaks all over the interior of the car. Rides good for a SUV of its size. Does not like to tow to much. It will tow my car just struggles uphill and gas mileage is horrible. I have had a few problems with it. Every single door handle on the outside has broke at least 2 times. Its a cheap plastic handle with metal screws and just break. Poor design.
The rear A/C stopped working 2 weeks ago. I assume its the blend door in the rear that broke. The heater line going to the heater core (made of plastic) broke on me on the highway and leaked coolant everywhere. Fairly cheap fix. So really for a 9 year old car and almost 170k miles its not to bad. You can just tell its cheaply built. I dont think id ever own another one. So take it for what it is. Id sell you mine if your interested lol.

Not looking to buy used but thanks. We also plan on ordering the trailer hauling package as it includes a built in brake controller and 3:42 gears as well as a few other extras. Our towing is limited to 5,000 so the 6.2 isn't needed. Would be nice to have but not worth upgrading another $15-20,000 before it could be added

I was unaware of the buffeting issue but google is my friend. Wow, that's terrible. Not sure what direction to turn now. Might rethink the Armada and take a closer look at a base Expedition.

The buffeting issue is like any other car issue, it's small in comparison to the number of trucks that are just fine. The only problem we've had with our '16 Yukon XL is that we can't keep from putting miles on it, we love driving it the most of all our vehicles.
Find the best deal and get your Tahoe and don't look back, you won't be disappointed.

Black cloth interior here looks great. I wanted the cloth interior , I'm not a leather guy. So I got the base model and that had exactly what we wanted. 2011 with 40K on the clock for 26K out the door bought in December 2015. We had to go to northern NJ for it. Tuned by BlackBear in person. Run's great no problems same with my previous Tahoe's and Suburban's. Good luck with your search.

After looking at both the Tahoe/Yukon and Ford Expedition the wife and I both liked the Ford better. Bought a 2017 4x4 Limited with the ecoboost motor. Rated to tow about 9,000 pounds which is more than enough.
Ford is discounting these pretty heavy right now as there was $8,850 in total rebates before we started to haggle. Time will tell if we made a good choice.
