Saw this on the Camaro forum - kind of makes me glad they didn't try the A10 immediately in the Corvette.

Yes, because one report of a small problem is soooo equivalent to 3 years of a lot of serious problems.

Every long journey begins with the first step.

I've been watching that forum, a zl1 is on my list. There have been a few weird things with the a10, but the m6 seems to have a real problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the a10 doesn't start crapping out, that's what I want to get.

What is the problem with the M6? Isn't it the same M6 as always?

As my father always told me, do something right or dont do it at all. The fact that the A8s are hit or miss in $60k and up cars is a down right embarrassment. For GM to stick their heads in the sand on the A8 issue, and now to press on with the A10s is infuriating. $75k for a ZL1 with an untested A10 after the unreliable A8? No thanks. There's an Audi RS5 for that price. And I'm a GM fanboy, buying nothing but GM since 2007. Hate to say this, but after the bankruptcy scared them straight in 08, quality improved tremendously until about 2014. Sadly, it feels like it's plumetting faster than pre-bankruptcy GM stock shares in the last few years.

Since the A8 doesn't seem to be bulletproof either, I'd rather have the A10....which I think I would make for an even better Z.

That's what I'm wondering too. Maybe I missed something with the 6th gen, but my 5th gen 1LE 6 speed with the TR6060 short throw is an incredible trans.

I've been following this thread over there. This is more worrisome to me. I haven't bothered to read the gen forums there to see if it's just the zl1.

Sounds like it could possibly be a throttle position sensor or rev match issue. The M6 trans itself though, you can rest assured Rooster, it is darn near bulletproof. Have been around gen 5 M6 since 2011, have owned 2 myself and still own one today. There could be other issues, but M6 shouldn't be one if you ever consider going ZL1 manual. Crisp, precise shifts, no matter how hard you push it

Thanks, it doesn't sound like the transmission. It's one of those things though where people started coming out of the woodwork with the same problem that can't be reproduced. Everything I've read about the m6 sounds great. Better than the m7 in the Corvette. I dunno, I'm at least a month from either ordering or finding one on a lot, so I'll just keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the feedback!

You know, funny you mention it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still impressed by the how my 3,900lb 1LE handles, it amazes me how this hippo can perform at the track every time, but it's no Corvette. The vette feels so much lighter and so much more refined. However, every time I get out of the Camaro and get into the vette, I wish I could take the trans with me. You're absolutely right. The camaro M6 is hands down a better trans than the vette M7. That's why your MGW suggestion is on my list of mods for this upcoming winter. At least get the shifts to feel more crisp and clean.

Not to worry... GM will soon come out with a 12-speed automatic to replace that old-fashioned, clunky 10 speed, and this time, it will be guaranteed to be "just as good as a DSG!" AGAIN!

When in doubt -- GM will throw more gears and complexity at it, so they can increase the MPG rating by 0.1!

The M6 (TR6060) and M7 (TR6070) are basically the same transmission w/ 1 extra gear.

Funny thing is, I remember reading the M6 is rated at 14 mpg city and the A10 is rated at 12 mpg city!
