Just went Italian
The poor mans Italian.
Couldn't pass it up. '17 Maserati GranTurismo. Special Edition. Only 400 made. Got it new for $129k. Windowed for $156k. Anyhow, it's for the Mrs. It was between this and the Lexus LC500. It was a tough call. The Lexus was so tech heavy and advanced, but we couldn't keep our eyes off the Mazy. It's just so damn sexy and sounds like a beast.
I've already upgraded the intake which helped alot actually. Next is X pipe, then exhaust. Then some wheels and we'll be done.
Car is about as tech empty as you can imagine. Performance, it's a turd, IMO. Yea, it gets up high in the rev range, but it's def no Z06. For the Mrs. It's fast. Something smooth in delivery that she can handle. Ride is good. Thought it would be a bit more plush tho. There are more negatives than positives, but the crazy thing is. Once you get it n it, put it in Sport mode and have at it, it's smiles all the way. The exhaust tone is absolutely gorgeous and the shift points are pretty damn crisp. Not up to GTR standards, but close.
It's hard when you have a budget of around $150k tops. There are a ton of cars to look at. Looking back, we should of went with a Bentley, but it's whatever. We'll enjoy it for a year or so. Then move on to the next.
I tried to get her in the Zl1. I tried. But she's like.......it's a Camaro. I'm like.......thinking to myself. Yea, but..........it's a Zl1. It will go perfect next to my Z06. At the end of the day, she wanted an exotic. Whatever. It's all good. Anyhow, onward we go to the next.

Beautiful car, congrats!!!!
But it is not some shade of red. Come on, its Italian!!!
More character than the Lexus.
The bottom line is if Mama is not happy, you're not happy.
Enjoy

She looks good, but she doesn't look Italian.

I came close to buying one of these before I bought the Z06.
I often wonder if I made a mistake....

That thing is sexy!! One of the best exhaust notes on a v8, my buddy is a manager of sales at a Maserati dealer and keeps taunting me for a trade in my Z, while I don't think I can't at this point I see a Maserati GT in my future. Great choice for the lady, btw I would have tried the zl1 as well haha.

Gorgeous design, plus the great sounding Ferrari engine. A classy car to cruise around in.
Enjoy it.

As someone mentioned, that Ferrari exhaust note is what does it. Keep it in the 7000 rev range. The build up to that point is money as well.

Congrats on the new ride....it really is a great grand touring car with a lot of style that you don't see at every stoplight. About 4 years ago I rented one for my wife when on vacation in Palm Springs for her birthday. I was surprised how she had no problem driving the car (she's always in SUV's) and took to it like a fish to water. The car is very cool yet very comfortable and "easy" to drive whether you're on a curvy mountain road or in stop and go traffic.
Beware of the funky 12 volt receptacles....maybe they've changed them by now.

Beautiful car, however, I hope you live close to the dealer and their service department. Also good to have AAA with the extended tow range option. I've found the towing offered by the dealer is useless as the trucks are always dispatched or booked weeks in advance.
Sad they are so poorly put together with such terrible reliability and QC as they are truly gorgeous cars.

Probably one of the best sounding OEM exhausts ever.

My buddy bought a 2016 Maserati Quattroporte 5 months ago and is selling it next week. There was 47 miles on it when he bought it new. He put 1700 miles on it and it has been in the shop 7 times for stupid ****. I'm taking it on a 500 mile trip this weekend and hope I don't have any problems with it. I'm not putting the car down at all because again I love it. It's black and has all kinds of options. It stickered for around $150,000 and he got a ton of money off because they wanted to get rid of it because the 2017 models were coming. He is in the oil business and has more money than god so he doesn't care about taking a big hit when he sells it. I have another buddy that has one and has around 30,000 miles on his and hasn't had any problems at all with his. It's like all the other cars out there sometimes you just get a bad one. I'm sure yours will be fine. Just run the hell out of it and if you have a problem with it that's what the warranty is for man..
