Default We will see.

I think the really good guys in good weather/track will match and/or beat that factory 9.65. I also think given the same driver/experience and conditions a stock Z06 will be +.6 behind the Demon most of the time. The Z06 will need a boost increase to contend with that car. As has been said no stock Z06 has come close to the 9's.

the 9.65 they achieved was in mine shaft air cold temps pro driver perfect track conditions 100 octane stripped out car slicks and skinnies and if you add octane guess what you can add timing for more power Food for thought

GM only marketed the A8 ZO6 at a 10.95. Some guys have gotten bone stock with only 93 octane in the 10.3 area. Perfect conditions and track. Something to think about

This should make for an interesting fall at the private drag strip events where the Demons can run. The problem with those types of events is that you don't usually see bone stock Z06's run so won't be able to make a same day comparison. Same day, I think the Demon will absolutely beat a stock Z06 as it should. Glory run or not, we have never seen a stock Z06 run in the 9's. And for the record.. I think the Challenger in any trim is ugly, especially with the fender flares.

That's what I figure too. A stock Demon will take a stock Z by 6 car lengths in the quarter. I'm not a Z hater. I have a 2016 and do take it to the strip and am happy with the way it runs. It simply does not have enough to come close to the Demon.

Default Hellcats and Demons

They may be fass but have no class. Take a look at their cheap interior
and then look at Mopars reliability. It would be better for Mopar to take the money spent to develop these beasts and invest it in quality and reliability of their product line, after all that's what pays the bills.

I hope you aren't expecting the Demon to come with plush leather and burlwood interior. This is a purpose built 1/4 miler for the street. Someone recently posted a comparison of reliability between the different auto manufactures and Mopar finished much higher than Chevy.

The Demon has the 1/4 mile tricks to do a 1.3 60ft that is the whole 1/4 mile race my friends.

I don't worry about the quarter mile. If I did I would have bought the A8. The M7 Z06 is not a 1/4 mile car. But I still have a very fast car.
Z06 M7 with 650 rear wheel. Side by side with the Demon
on an interstate pull. Would be bad for the Demon or an A8 Z06.

It's a niche market and special purpose car, not something intended to be an "all-around" car, and with that considered, I think Chrysler did a pretty good job of it. Sure, even the slower Hellcat has somewhat of a reputation for spitting out driveshafts on the dragstrip (we don't know yet what problems may crop up with the Demon), but it may be a pretty good deal for people who want something that does quite well at the drags, don't want to build it themselves, is street legal, and by golly, even meets emissions standards.

No NHRA track is going to let you run 9.65 is a box stock Demon. You might be able to do it ONCE before Tech Inspection tells you that a certified NHRA chassis with a full roll cage is required for your next pass.....

From the Milan Michigan dragstrip's website:

9.99 & Faster NHRA Certified Chassis

So go put a cage in your $85,000 Demon before making a 2nd pass.... and bring your NHRA Competition License....

LOL @ all of the Demon hate.

Seriously, are people so touchy that they can't even acknowledge that another car is faster down the 1/4? Line your Z06 up with a Demon at any dragstrip on any day and short of someone who flat out can't drive, the Demon is going to spank it. It is that simple. That's what it was designed to do.

I'm not running out to buy one and obviously those on this forum are here for a reason. It's safe to say that most prefer the things that the Corvette brings to the table more than brute force straight line speed but to dismiss the Demon it is absolutely stupid.

No. Your stock Z06 is not faster in a 1/4 mile. It's not even close.

But...but... look at the interior!!

But... but... my Z06 is faster on a road course!!!

(Well, at least until it overheats)

You don't have to worry, nobody is going to run 9.65 in a demon anyway - it was a one time VERY special car on a VERY specially prepped track. The pump gas demons are turning hellcat times or slower.

I am 100% sure that there will be some people who will hit the 9.6 number in the stock demon, it will be on one of the fast tracks like MIR.

It is just silly to believe that the Demon is going to run the same times(or slower than the hellcat. Also the only people who are worried about the demon running nines stock are people who brag about how fast their car is by reading magazine times, people who actually go to the strip will appreciate what this car will do.

Agreed, the hate is pathetic.. insecurity is strong, I wonder how many people who are hating on the demon actually have had their car on a strip, or road course, my guess would be less than 1%.

People know what tracks in their area to go to, I've taken 10 second cars down my home track without a helmet on, some tracks are much easier than others.
My home track is NHRA btw
