Default 30th Anniversary of the Ferrari F40 and why this is relevant to C7 owners

The Ferrari F40 made its debut 30 years ago. It was arguably the first 'super car'. $400K was the MSRP in 1987, that's over $800K in today's money. The performance numbers are very close to my Stingray with the Z-51 performance package. The Stingray is half a second quicker to 60mph, 1/4 mile times are about the same, top end on the F40 is 10+ mph faster, but I'm sure the Corvette would run faster on any track due to its superior cornering (C7 1.1 g's on the skidpad, F40 1.01 g's) and braking (70-0 braking distance: F40: 218 ft C7: 149 ft). And the F40 isn't a luxury car, it's more like a raw race car inside, no creature comforts.

It's amazing how far sports car performance has evolved over that period that now any AARP idiot (that would include yours truly) who isn't a credit criminal (as my 1980s urban drug thug Mercedes buyers used to say my credix be good muthafuka, mine today actually is, theirs at the time was not) can walk into a Chevy store and drive away in a car that could spank an F40 for less than 1/10 the cost in inflation adjusted $. In a far more sophisticated car that affords luxury car comfort, not racing car austerity.

All that being said, the Ferrari is just too cool for school. 30 years on that car still looks amazingly badass.

I suppose that's why when you're shooting gaps on the highway it's like you're driving a Ferrari F-40 in a field of Honda Civics, because that is essentially the case.

You're completely ignoring the most important aspect of a car's performance. TIRES. The F40, with modern aggressive tires, would significantly improve all its performance stats. It would walk all over a C7 with modern tires fitted to it.
