Halfway there.
I recently sold my '66 Sting Ray and bought a '66 Barracuda. The difference in ownership is remarkable! Now I get approached by normal, happy people who admire the car, and join in a friendly conversation about it. Gone are the elitist, numbers-matching, superior to God and man, Corvette know-it-all people who look for some issue to spout their holy knowledge about. Everything in the Corvette world is how big is your NCRS score, is it numbers matching, has it been modified, does it have the original air in the tires, wrapped in a superiority complex attitude.
I still have my '88 C4 Corvette. When I sell it, my last link to a hollow shell of humanity will be gone. And I won't miss it.

I'm sure that you'll run into those MOPAR purist as well. There seems to be a lot of that same type of talk when I attend an All MOPAR car event. My 68' Corvette is highly modified, so I occasionally get remarks about the mods. I always ask if they are interested in buying my car and restoring it back to its factory original condition; then they walk away!
