Jesus Christ on a stick that's fast.
Worst part is that lead Porsche engineer Andreas Preuninger has now taken to trolling his opponents on LinkedIn where he posted a picture of the car at the track with the caption, "With greetings to Maranello, Sant Agata, Affalterbach, Bowling Green and Yokohama!"
Well played as with that kind of performance he does for one shining moment get to be THAT guy.

When you're on sticky tires, coming out of a turn, you're going to have very little to no load on the front inside tire, so AWD isn't going to help you much (power goes to the wheel with the LEAST grip with an open diff).

Do you think Porsche just forgot how to make an AWD car or something? They literally took a platform that started as AWD and made it RWD when they were making their fastest most purpose built car ever. Porsche did this. And that's with a rear engine car- the layout that benefits the most from AWD.

The GT2 has always been a RWD variant of the 911. It's the mental, low weight, high hp turbo model. Could Porsche make a GT4 (or whatever they'd call it) variant with all the same stuff from the GT2 RS but retain AWD? Probably. Will they? Maybe, who knows. If they do, will it lap faster than the GT2 RS? Most likely.
Bottom line, the car is DAMN impressive. To do what it did with a rear engine, 2WD setup, with no electrification is a slap in the face to those who say that you must be mid engine, AWD, and probably electric to be relevant. I bet the guys in the C forum that guarantee the next Corvette will be mid engine, because it has to be to remain competitive, are all eating their shoes right now.

Porsche will not be happy with that, to even buy one you have to be on Porsche's super car list (previous buyers of the 918). If they get wind that you're curbing their halo 911 they'll black list you for sure.
