Sloooow crank to start on a BMW
I have a 2008 BMW 528i with a SLOOOOOOOW crank situation.
I bought the car new and it has 102k and has been rock solid. I'm real good about the maintenance and feel comfortable driving the car anywhere.
However, when I start the car, the starter engages, and there is this "pause" the engine starts to spin (like 1/2 a turn) slowly then it spins normal to start. It has been doing this hesitation, slow spin thing for a long time.
I have put the battery, charging system and the stater on a meter and all come back within normal specs.
Huh. Any idea on what is happening? If the car was my old 69 charger wiht the built 440, I'd say that the starter was struggling with a high compression (thats what it feels like).
Thanks- any ideas?
