This is just mind boggling. Tesla has literally overnight made all petrol powered sports cars obsolete. And for a relatively reasonable $200K.
I predict 5+ year order backlog.

Meh!
Didn't Tesla just layoff 100s of employees?

My wife drives a model S 100D (not the P100D). It's nutty fast for a huge assed sedan. 4.1 seconds 0-60 and it's so responsive. You step on it and it jumps.
If they really get this to market at $200k (no, I'm not putting a $50k deposit down on a car that's 30 months from production) then this is my next car. Because don't miss the key parts: 600 miles of range with plenty of places to put luggage because the motors are super small. Gonna road trip in that NSX? Good luck packing.
Plus, being electric, I can tell you from the experience of watching my wife with her S: only peasants go to the gas station. She never goes to the gas station. Drives home from work, plugs the car in, drives out the next day. I'm green with envy. Never. Goes. To. The. Gas. Station. It's awesome. I go to the gas station. Like a peasant.

Hah, well I mean generally the Viper and Vette are in the ~$100K car class. Jumping up to the Tesla Roadster ~$200+K car class usually requires a sizable step in income. Vette/Viper isn't going to be cross-shopped with the Tesla, the other cars will.

My wife hasn't bought gas in two years and loves our Tesla.
I simply cannot find anything bad to say about it.
250 large is a lot of money to pay for a car, but with that kind of performance capability and cruising range, it might be worth it.

Impressive numbers to be certain. Maybe at 200k they might actually have a product they can make a profit on.http://www.nationalreview.com/articl...es-phil-kerpen
