Default ZR1 vs. GT500

Another addition to the 700HP+ club. Looking forward to the unlikely combatants’ future showdown. Whichever you prefer, you cannot deny that these are exciting times for car enthusiasts.

^^^ ... hence, “unlikely combatants,” but thanks for providing the most obvious cliche response. Nonetheless, they will be compared, by countless sources, regardless of your choice of fruit.

Why, Mustangs don't get tracked? I'll answer my own question. Yes they do. I've seen the Vette be compared to everything on this forum.

Dealers won't be selling the GT500 for 20K+ below MSRP a year or two after it's released like the ZR1.

gt500 is probably going to be 3800 lbs and 700 hp, easily making it Nismo GTR territory. I wouldnt be surprised if the gt500 trades blows or even beats the z06 in a track, but idk about a zr1.

Default Bumping the power!? ;)

Its handling limits are approachable and usable. Perhaps you’ve seen videos of Mustangs leaving car shows with disastrous results. Chalk it up to lack of skill. If you know what you’re doing, there’s simply no treachery to this chassis (or that of any new Mustang); it does what you expect of it safely, predictably, and obediently.

“There are arguments for both, but the GT350 is by far the most complete car. I drove the Grand Sport and the GT350 back to back twice to come to that conclusion. The Ford is more desirable, more practical, and cheaper.”

I am going to get one if i can at msrp. I can fit in this better than a corvette and i like better than the zl1. I think this car will be port injection only so hopefully easier and cheaper to modify. I'm hoping a pulley and a tune for 900 hp or sell the eaton blower and twin turbo it.

Kudos to Ford for building this car exciting times to be a car guy and I'm sure they'll be competing on some track some place down the road...

You sound way too much like a Corvette owner with all that premature modifying!

The ZR1 destroys the GT500. Expect a Z28 with the LT5 motor.

Default Hot Rod is a great street car catch all name!

Use Purpose Built (IE ILE or ZO7), or Sports Car (IE ZL1 or ZO6), to differentiate!

Compared on what qualifications? One is a 4 seat GT car. The ZR1 is track focused supercar, with 2 seats. There is NO comparing the two cars, in any way, shape, or form! Just because they have 700+hp means nothing.

And your point? The Grand Sport is NOT a ZR1. Not in the same universe.

ZR1 MSRP is probably 40k more than a GT500

But it is an Apples and Apples comparison absolutely relative chassis wise!

But, Ford's a little late to the party. Could it be they figured out putting down bigger HP without an ediff has got them lagging? Interesting!
