Demon vs ZR1
The Dodge Demon Has 840 HP on 100 octane pump gas and does its official 1/4 mile time of 9.65 with the thin front tires. So do you think the corvette ZR1 would be faster in the 1/4 mile if the demon was in its most likely real life configuration of regular front tires and 808 HP with super unleaded fuel?

No...ZR1 isn't designed to optimize drag strip performance.
That said...the ZR1 may lose to the Demon by .5 seconds at the quarter, but the Demon will lose by 10 seconds at VIR...so...pick your poison.

Different cars totally! The ZR1 wins everything but the 60ft.
Other than that it is all ZR1! It might win that too with some slicks with the A8! Highway roll downs, the track, anything else the DEMON would be raped!

I think it will be a great race on the drag strip between the 2.
On the track/road race,.....it's lights out with the ZR1 coming out on top.

You guys need to keep in mind that Demon glory pass was -1200 DA or something LOL and the actual results from racers have mostly been way worse. GM Performance is working on the LT4 ZL1 Drag program and they’re running 10.0s with that car with a 2.3 upper pulley, PCM, TCM, MRC, and ELSD tuning on a higher octane factory authorized tune.
Stock Z06s have been sub 10.5
You WILL see stock ZR1s into the 9s on Pump gas IMO and besting Demon with their drag kits on and high octane tunes cranking.

As said WAY different cars, while my demon is built but not in the garage yet, my hellcat has 751 rwhp, but is slower than my Z06 because of traction, but nothing burns the tires like the hellcat, I am sure the demon will be good at that too. The only thing my demon will do better than my ZR1 is melt the tires, when you're old like me that works.

"Different cars", meaning they shouldn't be compared? "Hasn't been released yet", meaning anticipation to find out? It's ok Deb,we all want to know. It's fun!!

I don't think there's any question that the new ZR1 will run into the 9's in good DA conditions and on Drag Radials (which is what the Demons comes with stock). That 9.65 Demon time was done in perfect conditions with a perfect launch, the avg. Demon owner will be lucky to see 9.9s. Thus, given an equal tire, I think the A8 ZR1 and Demon will be very close down the strip. I suspect average Joe bone stock ZR1 times with an A8 will be in the 10.2 to 10.5 range. I figure about .5s ahead of the C7Z, which ran roughly 10.7 to 10.9 with the A8 in "normal" conditions.

I haven't driven either never will nor will I ever have one( I want to) as much as I love my vette(c5 albeit makes close to 700 wheel when it's not broke) the Demon just seems more raw in every manner. The vette may be more elegant or easier to drive but I like the violence of the Demon. Once is a sharp blade the other is a war hammer. Both have their places. Either way I'm glad these cars are here in my time

Scraping the splitter.
Owners are going to have trouble duplicating the 9.65 Demon time. That was set in big negative DA air in the middle of November at a very well prepped Gainesville track in the evening. The ZR1 has a better power to weight ratio and better chassis dynamics and weight bias than the Demon for standing start launches. But it doesn't have the voodoo that Dodge put into the Demon with respect to the TransBrake, Drag Mode Launch Assist and Torque Reserve. Those are paramount to the dragstrip performance of the Demon and, unless GM is seriously holding out, the ZR1 won't have comparable features. The ZR1 also won't come on DR's with skinnies in the trunk (or a crate).
On DR's the ZR1 will probably be a low 10-second car with the A8. It's only a few pounds heavier than the Z06 with substantially more power. Some will likely squeak into the 9's. The best launch method will likely still be flashing the converter and hoping the tires hook, which will provide some seriously impressive 60-foot times with all that power.
It's going to be a very fast car. My question is exactly how far into the 10's it'll go on stock tires.

Scraping the splitter.
One or two have gone 9.9's. It's going to take a big negative DA day at Atco or Cecil to get one into the 9.6's, and don't expect they'll go much faster.
To be fair, fast as it is, it's also on DR's with skinnies and unleaded "race" gas with a Mopar ECU.

lol...why wouldn't they post the faster time? Talk about baseless speculation.
