Default The All New Cadillac V8 4.2l TT ..

Today Cadillac introduces the new CT6 V-sport AWD with a new engine 4.2 L v8 TT that produce a 550 hp and 650ft of torque

Do you think this is the new engine that will be on the base line of the C8 ?

It would certainly make sense.

Fantastic power numbers. How does the package size and weight of this product compare to an NA V8 OHV engine however?

It's not pretty to look at, which sort of matters with the ME having a view of the engine.

The official Cadillac media announcement says that that motor’s torque is 627 pounds.

I will be very happy with a first year ME with 550 HP and 627 TQ.

According to motortrend :

“It’s interesting to note that Cadillac claims the 2019 CT6 V-Sport’s engine is both smaller on the outside and lighter than the supercharged LT4 and LT5 Small Block V-8s, weighing in at a claimed 529 pounds. S”

I would too. That's certainly something significantly higher powered over the C7 where you still have a 200hp disparity between it and the Zr1, over even 100hp from the Z06.

I'd welcome a base model with forced induction any day. Especially turbos. Very easy to make more power with computer tuning.

That’s a lot of torque. That’s definitely on engine for the ME Vette. If that’s the V-sport, what the H is gonna power the V?

At first look, for my needs that would be just fine.

In that Cadillac media CT6 announcement is states that the transmission is the A10. Interesting in view of the following post by ZERV just three days ago:

The catch is: Are they including all of the plumbing, drain lines, intercoolers, etc... Also the LT4 has 100 more hp and 25 more tq...

That said, it's an exciting engine.

It’s a hot V engine, just like we wanted.

Awesome. Turbo cars are so easy to turn up, don't even need to skin a knuckle to make another 50hp with adjusting the waste-gates and fuel. I'd be all for that in the ME C8!

Forged aluminum connecting rods in a production GM engine? Interesting...

I read the con-rods were Steel along with the crank. Both being forged.

*edit* Some articles are saying steel others aluminum.

Some more detail on the engine, which is said to be exclusive to Cadillac and will be hand built and signed by the technician at the Performance build center in Bowling Green, KY.

At 4.2L it is small enough for a flat-plane crank.

i like it as well. I’ll bet the vette version is tuned for more like 600 hp/ 675 tq.

Default Yep! My 1st time in the C8 section! ;)

Efficient Big power platform with the A10!

Turbos in the V!

Valve guide wear/inertia distribution!

A 500 HP for the race car Validation (Ford's ecoboost V6)! But, the OHV has a lower COG and using it with the C8 frame would really ****-off the competition.

SWEET (GM liked the Bimmer motor too)!

Trend has been locking down ECU...so I would not get overly excited about tunes yet...
