Warren recently had his 6th Gen Camaro ZL1 transported down to our Facility from the great state of Virginia for our Stage IV performance package install. Warren contacted us to discuss his build with the expectations of maximizing the performance of his ZL1 while staying on pump gas, and with the addition of a camshaft for an aggressive lope at idle. Our Stage IV combination utilizes the essential bolt-on modifications proven for power on these cars, while upgrading everything that we recommend in the valve train to support an aftermarket camshaft, and delete the DOD/AFM system. Warren’s build featured the following items for the build:





• Griptec 2.30” LT4 upper Supercharger Pulley
• ATI Balancer Kit for LT4 wet sump
• Lingenfelter 18% 9.17” Lower pulley
• Gates Green HD supercharger belt
• Vengeance Racing CNC ported LT4 Cylinder heads
• Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus for LT4
• 180* Thermostat
• LTR7IX Spark Plug set
• KOOKS 1 7/8” Header system with Catted Connection Pipes
• Vengenace Racing high temp spark plug wire insulators
• Corsa Sport Axle Back Exhaust system w/ black tips








The back bone of the build would be our Stage II camshaft, which is the largest that we recommend using on automatic-transmission ZL1’s with the stock torque converter in place. Since the LT engines were released, we have fine-tuned our parts offerings in our “Cam Kit Plus” to include absolutely everything needed for a complete and reliable camshaft install whether we are putting these parts in here at our facility, or if a customer was looking to do the work himself and order the parts from us. Our essential Cam Kit Plus package includes the following items, with available upgrades to ARP head studs or the Johnson 2110R lifters for higher horsepower or RPM combinations:

Our Stage IV package adds in our CNC ported LT4 cylinder heads that have proven performance results. These cylinder heads feature a 5-axis CNC port program, competition valve job, CHE bronze valve guides, REV severe duty stainless exhaust valves, and come preloaded with a dual valve spring kit for easy installation.








Our customer had already installed a Roto-Fab Cold Air intake system on the car prior to its arrival. For the bolt-on supporting modifications, we installed a pulley combination on the LT4 supercharger using a Griptec 2.30” Upper pulley, ATI Balancer and Lingenfelter 9.17” Lower Pulley. We have used this set up multiple Heads/Cam ZL1’s with great results. To this we added a Gates Green HD supercharger Belt.







To help with getting proper flow out of the engine we chose to run a KOOKS 1 7/8” Longtube Header system with Catted Connection Pipes into a Corsa axle back exhaust system. This along with our Stage II camshaft provides an aggressive exhaust sound that Warren was looking for.







With the install complete it was time to head over to our chassis dyno for some numbers. With this combination Warren’s ZL1 put down 716rwhp and 757rwtq on 93 octane pump gas, and still retains excellent drivability for daily use. Warren was blown away with the results of his ZL1 and couldn’t wait to have the car transported back home for him to begin ripping up the back roads of Virginia!
