Default Anyone driven or owned a Shelby GT350?

I have a 17 grand sport M7 and I do love it. I have had it over a year and dont drive it as much as I would like because I have a 8 yr old son and he cant drive in the front for a while still so I was thinking of getting a different car with a back seat. I have looked at a ton of youtube review on the gt350 and every single one is positive. I know the grand sport is faster in almost every catagory but I would like a car that I can drive anytime I want and bring my son along. I would totally miss the top coming off though .

Wondering what you all think about the gt350.

I've been a mustang guy most of my life. However when my kids got bigger the back seats were too small. Ended up getting a 16 M3 and loved it for the practicallity. I do like the GT350 but think a sedan is the easier route. They also make a convertible 👍🏻

Get the SS1LE Camaro, you will be glad you did and is a lot less money.. The GT350 has no low end torque and really isn't as nice to drive on the street where torque rich cars are much more fun especially on those back twisty roads. The GT350 flatplane crank design has vibration harshness in the upper RPM ranges. The back seat is perfect for the youngster in the SS. The SS1LE will also give a GT350 a very hard time on a road course if not beat it.

I'm curious about the longevity of the flatplane engine.

Why can’t an 8 year old ride in a C7?

.

I wouldn’t expect many good reviews on a GM/Corvette forum, but the GT350 is a great car. While I don’t own one, I have driven them several times, and owned two GT500s. I was planning to purchase an “R” back in ‘16, but refused to pay an ADM, so I purchased a Z06 instead... with no regrets.

Ford tweak the GT350 for 2019... different areos, particularly the rear spoiler, redesigned the grille, and their B&O Play will now be available. Any updates to the platform and performance numbers, if any, have not been released yet. Good news is that most of the ADMs have fizzled, however, some are still lingering on the “R.”

If you can wait, the ‘20 GT500 is around the corner, but unfortunately ADMs will be in play again.

Personally, I would never consider a Camaro over a GT350, but I’m sure that I’m in the minority on this forum

Get the hellkitty and your kid can have his whole class room ride in the back with him....and they will have room for a big screen TV to boot.

Just test drive one first, and make sure you can deal with having the torque in a higher rev range. Not the fastest car off the line or around town...they need to stretch their legs and then become magnificent. Some like that, others not so much. They are best on a track.

Go get a nice Challenger instead. The Mustangs aren't as intriguing as the new Mopars. Just a suggestion.

I want something different and that is more rare. I am not a fan of camaros....I have yet to see a gt350 around where I live. I see plenty of corvettes and even a handful of z06.....I love my grand sport but kinda wish I would of gotten a z06 since it isnt the top dog (zr1 is way outta price range) but then id be in the same situation about the extra seats. Ill try and find one to test drive this week.

any other opinions or info is appreciated
thanks

That's my question. The car is a 2 seater. You're saying a kid can't ride in a 2 seat pick up either?
My granddaughter grew up riding shotgun in my C-6

Just remember to turn off the air bag.

The SS1LE is even better on the track and has all the glorious low end torque. The experience of the alpha chassis is one of a kind. I personally would never consider a GT350 and have to live with a less content and more expensive car. Compare item for item in each car and see what the Mustang doesn't have and cannot get.

Spend 62 - 63k and get a ZL1 10 speed automatic, Mustang has absolutely nothing in that league.

My son has a GT350.It does lack torque in the low end but makes up for it once you get to 3000 rpm. My only problem with the 8000+ redline is my mind tells me to shift long before the engine gets there. I have only gotten to 6000 before I "had" to shift. This old timer's brain wants to shift about 5000 like it learn many years ago. I just drive the car in lower gear than you probably should to keep the rpm's up around town - for the fun factor. I had to do that back in the 70's with my 73 L82. The only reason I did not get one is I wanted an auto trans, too old to shift all the time especially in traffic.

Yet... albeit, the new GT500 will be north of 63K.
