Default 06 Viper SRT-10 info

I was thinking about buying a 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 with 23,000 miles on it. Wanted to know if this year or generation vipers had any issues(valves, electrical, etc). Or if anyone has owned one or knows anyone else that has owned one to tell me what to look out for when going for a test drive and walk thru.

My sister has the 2006 (bought new and is practically a light daily driver) and it has never been in the shop other than normal maintenance. Check the power steering unit (cap/pulley). That is the only common issue that I have ever heard of with the 2006. Other than that, I would look for door sagging as they are big and heavy but I don't know if that is or has been an issue on these cars.

As mentioned mine leaked at the power steering reservoir. Easly fixed with aftermarker hoses. Pretty easy car to work on urself. Never had any issues with my 05 other then the leak. Fun car to have and gets compliments everywere. Didnt keep it long. Decided to get back into vettes. Vette will be more practical then the viper. Enjoy it!

I can only speak for the 2008 model as I owned one for about three years. No issues at 24,000 miles. You might consider moving up to the 2008 with the newer reworked 8.4L. 100HP and 35 lb-ft of torque more over the 2006 and about a 1/2 sec faster in the quarter. Plus a more aggressive looking hood!
