Suggestions on dealer to buy a 2019 GMC from?
I have learned a lot on this forum. It is because of this forum I was able to score a great deal on my new 2017 Stingray. Now I am in the market for a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 when it is released and wanted to know opinions on a dealership that sells GMC as well. I would be willing to shop several states for the best deal if it makes it worth my effort - VA, WV, KY, OH, PA, MD, DC, NC, TN,NY, NJ area.

Google Laura Buick GMC in Collinsville, IL (close to St.Louis,MO). I've bought 3 new trucks from them with great results. By far one of the cheapest dealers out there and easy to work with. The salesman I've used in the past is no longer there, but you shouldn't have a problem getting help. No one locally would even come close, and was well worth the cost of a one way flight to save thousands. Another top GMC dealer is Everett GMC in Arkansas (no experience with them but have prices comparable to Laura). I know they're both out of your search area, but I traveled from both PA and NC to get to them and will do it again in the future when I buy again; they will pick you up at the St. Louis airport free of charge too.

Maybe check with Mike Furman @ Criswell. No experience ordering from them, but he's a forum dealer with a good reputation on here, and he also deals in other makes as well, as he occasionally posts other vehicles besides Corvettes in his weekly delivery/photo posts. Can't recall if GMC is one of them, but probably worth checking.

Mike Furman at Criswell Auto Group
He sells from 8 dealerships at Criswell Auto Group in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He is factory trained and certified to sell everything from Chevrolet to Honda to Nissan to Fiat to Dodge/Jeep to Maserati, etc.
At last count, he just passed 4,100 new Corvettes sold in his 41 years, and over 12,000 of all other new makes and models.
Not sure about the GMC, but Chevrolet has their equivalent.
Great sales and delivery experience.
He he has been the #1 Corvette sales rep nationally forever, and was award as the #1 sales rep for GM in the 15 eastern states a year ago.
Yup, this is your go to guy.
He is currently in Las Vegas at the Ron Fellows Spring Mountain Corvette Driving School putting his Corvette customers through their paces. It is his semi annual event out there.

Thanks all for the suggestions. When they finally release the 2019 GMC Sierra I think this may be what I am looking for. 6.2L, 10spd, 4x4, off road package, double cab, 6.5' bed, tow package, safety package. From what little is out there I see the Chevy version lacks the 2H, 4H, 4L, AWD system. The redesign shows a weight loss of 400+lbs which should get me the CCC (Cargo Carry Capacity) I am looking for at 2000lbs or more.

I ended up ordering a 2019 F150 Lariat 502A 4x4 5.0 10spd SCAB 6.5' in August 2018 and took delivery last month. Ford had a few more safety features that GM did not offer and a bit more payload so I went with Ford.

I did extensive research on every full size truck available in the USA - GM, Ford, Ram, Toyota, Nissan.... They all have positives and negatives. The Ford was the right one for me with the most possible safety features and payload. I just sold my 2015 Ford F150 that had 2212lbs payload but it did not have very many safety features. I got the Lariat 502A and I ended up with 1910lbs payload on the sticker with a nicely loaded truck 4x4 and good towing rating. The Ram was nice but the coil spring rear end gives the WORST payload of all I looked at - the payload was only 1100lbs and missing some safety features. This payload is too low for doing what I need it to do. The GM brand was missing some safety features and had about 1790lbs payload. The Toyota and Nissan - even the heavy duty versions were missing safety features and had less payload - about 1700lbs if I recall. Payload sticker is king when configuring a set up for towing. All have plenty of tow rating - you run out of payload far before you run out of tow capacity.

You might want to look at this sheet from Ram.

There are a LOT of variants some with 2300lbs payload.

Problem is - all brands try to tell you they are the best in this that or the other. It is up to the consumer to do the legwork to get what is right for them. Ford claims an F150 with the heavy duty payload package of 3270lbs BUT real world is real different because they make you configure what THEY want to get that. So I ended up configuring what I needed/wanted to get the best possible payload with all the safety packages. If I configured what I needed/wanted the Ram had the lowest payload and Ford had the highest without missing safety items. I am not brand loyal - I would just as easily buy brand X over Y if they met my demanding needs - That is why I shopped all brands. Price was not really a concern as what I was buying would have MSRP in the 60K range no matter the brand. I could not care less about what it looked like (I have a Vette for looks). Gas mileage is not a real issue as when towing they all get about the same and the truck is used for towing 90% of the time. Power was not a real concern either as all would have a V8 and within a few HP of each other, I have owned about 100 vehicles varying brands Ford, Pontiac, Chevy, Buick, Toyota, Suzuki, Fiat, Subaru, Jeep, Plymouth, Chysler, Mercury, Lincoln, etc... and know first hand all have positives and negatives - no one will ever convince me to be brand loyal no matter what - I buy what I need or like at the time - sometimes 2 new vehicles a year.

You want a real shock? Go to Fords web site and build a Lariat trimmed (or higher) F150 and F250 Super Duty. When they are equipped with similar options the F150 is roughly the same price or higher because some of the F150 options are bundled with other stuff you might not want.

I can only give my experience for help.
I bought a 2017 in early 2018, it had never been titled and had been driven by the owner of the dealership. It had 4000 miles.
It stickered for $83K and I paid $59K (that's 29% off the sticker price). It was in the showroom of the dealership. I think they gave me every discount available except being the owner of Toyota (seriously, it would have taken another $1000 off ). The dealership IMO tried every way to get every discount they could. Did they make money off of me? Sure, but I felt they really tried to do all they could.
To get one of the discounts, I had to finance it with GM for at least 4 months. After that time, I could pay it off or refinance it. Yes, the rate was like 6% or so, but I just had to keep it for 4 months to keep the discount. We refinanced after 4 months with State Farm, as they carry our insurance, and they were by far the lowest cost. That would be my recommendation.
