Since I could not afford a Corvette I drove an MG. We had a 1966 MG we bought used and a 1972 MG we bought new. It was a fun car to drive but no where near a Corvette.

On our wedding day, Ercie and I drove it through downtown Wichita Falls, Texas, with a police escort.--Great stuff! Wonderful memory!

Lola T-70 coupe Serial # SL73-117, previously owned by James Garner (Rockford Files- Maverick) and driven by Robert Duvall in sci-fi movie THX 1138.

Last I heard, it was for sale, now in France, with an asking price of around two million USD.

Cheers,

Eddie

Too lazy to post pictures. I interpret 'sports car' very loosly for this post as 'fun to drive'. Here are mine, in no particular order.

1966 Corvair Corsa Convertible
1968 Corvair Monza Coupe (wicked autocrosser)
2004 Corvette Convertible
2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan (first trip on the Tail of the Dragon)
1973 Triumph TR6 (restored it myself)
1999 Mazda Miata
2011 MazdaSpeed 3
1983 Porsche 944
1990 Thunderbird SC
1992 Honda Civic Si Hatchback
2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring (the only auto trans in the bunch and stablemate to my 2016 Stingray)

It's nice to hear from Eddie Hill, one of my favorite ever drag racers,

Yeah! Nice looking Viper. How did it drive compared to your Vette?

Thanks! These cars are pretty raw compared to the C7's! The Vipers don't come with the creature comforts of the newer vettes (traction control, magnetic ride control, etc.). With that said, they can bite you in the **** if you're not accustomed to driving them. A blast to drive though, once you become used to how they react in the corners. The linear acceleration is about the same as the vette (gets to redline a little quicker though) except for the supercharged '98 viper I had which was stupid fast and almost too responsive on the throttle, which is the inherent nature of superchargers. Of course that was an add-on. Exhaust note on these cars is a little weird because of the 10 cylinder and firing order. Some guys changed out their exhausts with tubi's and what-not but did so for the slight added gain in HP more so than for trying to enhance the sound. All-in-all they are great American muscle cars just like the vettes but each have their own unique attributes. Kind of wished I kept either one but decided to step into the Ferrari world. That's another unique experience on a different level!
