Corvette 327 in my Model A?
I just bought a 1928 Model A 2 door sedan with a 327. The Street Rod was built in 1978. In front of the right cylinder head I found : 18Z141561 T0320EI. At the left rear in front of the bellhousing I found GM 3914660. As far as I can tell, and I am probably wrong, the engine is a 327 built in Tonawanda on March 20, 1968. The EI indicates it is from a Chevlle or El Camino with a Powergilde. Am I correct or is this a Corvette engine? The car does have a Powerglide in it.
One picture is the car as it looks now, the other is from Street Rodder magazine in September 1980.

Welcome to the forum, Kurt and congratulations on your really cool 90 year old Ford!
Hopefully, I'm deciphering everything correctly from the information your provided. If so, what I come up with is:
3914660 indicates a 1968 327 which could be 210-275HP with 2 bolt mains.
You are correct about the engine being produced in Tonawanda on March 20, 1968. The EI represents a 250HP, 4bbl carb engine and Powerglide transmission.
And I believe 18Zxxxxxx will represent:
1= Chevrolet,
8=1968
Z = Fremont, CA
xxxxxx = production sequence
No Corvettes were produced in Freemont so we know unfortunately the engine is not from a Corvette.
However, in 1968, the Freemont plant produced the GMC C/K trucks, Chevelles, LeMans, El Camino, GTOs, Cutlasses, and 442s. The trucks may have had a 327 engine; other than that, I believe the only other two vehicles manufactured there that had the 327 engine would have been the Chevelle, and El Camino.
So, it appears that you were correct to narrow it down to a Chevelle, or El Camino. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past that either, but hopefully the other info will help you know a little more about your engine.
Corvette engine or not, you have a very nice car and it's especially cool to have one that has been featured in a car magazine!
Cheers, Larry
