Mercedes Benz is not what is seems!
My Corvettes, Honda civics and fords all have had remote start for frigid weather. My wife's MB has a phone app to start[ ha ha ha ] the car. After many times on the phone wit the techs, they say the app is under going an update, it only starts 10 % of the time. She dug into the reviews and finds out most all of MB owners have the same non-functioning problem! My question is --- can an after market remote with a FOB be added to this

Mercedes-Benz haven't been Mercedes' in 30+ years on quality. Not the ones I know of anyway. If my new Corvette is any indication of the quality I bought, I'm good with it.
I'm keeping my 06 E320 CDI, with the balance of it's
limited 25 yr. factory warranty.

My friend's 2017 Rav4 has the dumb phone app remote start. Then when she opens the door, the car shuts off (Designed that way) lol wtf
Why they did not just make it work with the FOB is beyond me. My Hellcat does it with the FOB.

As a former professional mechanic who used to work on Mercedes Benz cars, I would never own one. I made plenty of $$$ working on them, though. Especially when it rained (electrical gremlins) or when they hit about 80,000 miles and started to self-destruct.

Best option for MB is an aftermarket remote start installed by a company that specializes in European car installs.
The GM App works great on my Sierra Denali, starts the truck every time I use it, and it's really nice not to have to be in FOB range - especially since it's hovering around -40 C where I live over the last few nights.

A friend bought a 2012 E350 a few years ago used, he will never buy another Mercedes. Between battery issues and the final thing I fixed for him the thermostat failure he traded it in and it dropped 1/2 the value he paid for it used in like 2 years. There is 1 E350 on the road with a GM thermostat, I looked online to see where the thermostat was in that car and how much it cost, I saw all the parts had to remove to get to it and it was like $120 if I remember correctly for the thermostat. So we drove to Summit which isn't far away and bought a remote thermostat housing think it was $60. I cut his cooling line to the radiator and put that inline and fixed the issue of never warming up.
I had to replace the brakes and rotors on that car at 45k miles at all 4 corners even the rotors were worn out. My 2010 Tahoe has 196K miles and still all 4 factory rotors and still factory front pads, rear pads changed at about 120K.
I will never buy a Mercedes either.

A few years back we bought a CPO 2013 C300 Sport Package Owned it 2 years, it never missed a beat once.... Oil changes and a set of wiper blades was all. Traded it in on a new 2017 Silverado.... Also been perfect so far... oil changes only.

Now on a 30 year old MB we expect the window switches to be broken but on a 4 month old one? We know they want us to have the MB get factory service like oil changes but only people that can do that job is MB dealers. Yes you can pour in your own oil but you cant reset the noise maker and flashing lights. They and they only can do that and clip you 400 for that oil change. All they need is a good salesman! Normally they get gone when the lease is up or 40K the owner has had enough and finds something else. Most repair folks at MB tell MB to make a better product but goes on deft ears.
