Stock '19 Mercedes AMG GLC 63s Coupe faster than ZR1!
Who needs a slow ZR1 when a stock 2019 Mercedes AMG GLC 63s Coupe (503 hp & 4,511 lbs.) is faster than a ZR1:
At least these are the facts according to the Jerry Reynolds, from the Car Pro Show, who just reviewed the above Benz recently. Just listen to his words in his review video below.
Pay attention to his words from the 56 second mark - 1:11 mark. At least the 0 - 60 claim of 3.3 seconds seems to be correct, as other reviewers have obtained that time.
What's funny is the week before he reviewed a 2019 McLaren 720s yet somehow this Benz is faster to 100 mph even though it has 200+ hp less & weighs 1,300+ lbs. more than the 720s.
BTW, Jerry Reynolds told me on FB messenger that his 3.8 second 0 - 100 mph time is correct because the performance timer in the gauge cluster said so & it must be so fast to 100 mph due to the gearing. Then he went & deleted my FB post on his page questioning his 3.8 second result.
It's strange that last May when Car & Driver reviewed a 2018 model of this same Benz they only managed a 0 - 100 mph time of 8.1 seconds & a 1/4 mile time of 11.7 seconds @ 119 mph (faster than a ZR1 in the 1/4 mile, remember). I guess the Car & Driver guys don't know how to drive & wasted their time measuring acceleration accurately with instrumentation. https://www.caranddriver.com/mercede...pe-glc63-coupe (scroll down a bit & you can see the specs C&D obtained for the AMG GLC 63s Coupe). I suppose C&D should have just reported whatever the dashboard said like The Car Pro.
If some of you want to share your thoughts about these claims on his YT or FB pages you really should.
- in the 1/4 mile
- oh & did you know this Benz goes from 0 -100 mph in 3.8 seconds (which would mean it's faster from 0 - 100 mph than a ZR1, La Ferrari, Ferrari 488 Pista, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren 720s, Lamborghini Huracan Performante etc.....). Who knew that a much heavier car with less power could be so fast.

You & me both. This SUV/Coupe, whatever Benz wishes to call it, is ugly! The body style reminds of an early '80s AMC Eagle.
Though it's fast from 0 - 60, 3.3 seconds. It also set a new Nurburgring record as the fastest SUV around the track. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...ng-lap-record/
But it definitely doesn't beat a ZR1 in the 1/4 mile or go from 0 - 100mph in 3.8 sec. like the above review says. I don't know what the Car Pro smoked before doing his review. I think he better skip trying to do performance oriented reviews in the future & just stick with talking about the leather on the seats & the gadgets inside the car.

That’s an ugly suv and the old guy road testing it needs to skip a few meals.

If the 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds is correct, then what is going on here is that the 0-100 in 3.8 is 100K/hr (or 62.14 mph). He should have said 100 kilometers/hr, not 100 mph.
And airplanes have been crashed because of accidentally mixing up imperial measurements with metric- for fuel capacity, or weight.
Cheers,
Eddie

I'm thinking that more than likely he did a few 0 - 60 & 0 - 100 runs & just mixed things up or didn't use the built in timer correctly. The other possibility is that the timer in this particular press fleet/test car is just out of whack. That's why you shouldn't quote acceleration figures without using a Racelogic V-Box or the less expensive Dragy to verify the acceleration data.
My issue with the guy is that he is spouting this '3.8 second 0 - 100 mph' & 'faster than a ZR1 in the 1/4 mile' as fact to millions of people. He has it in writing on this website, he says it in the above review video that is on YT & on his website, & he also said it last weekend on his nationwide 3 hour long radio program that airs every Saturday (the radio program is in its 17th year). He is giving people incorrect info.
His arrogance & large ego won't allow him to admit that he made a mistake instead of thinking it over & saying - Hmm, maybe I made a mistake. How is it that the results others have obtained while testing this car are almost identical (Car & Driver, Edmunds.com, Euro car mags etc..) & mine are so out of line with their results. Maybe I should post a correction and/or mention on my radio show that I made an honest mistake. -
Anyway, I'll get off of my soapbox now. I'm probably the only one in the U.S. who even cares that he made a mistake. I need to just & let the guy continue spouting incorrect performance stats about cars.

It was probably intentional. You get more clicks when people get fired up, and clicks mean money.

Oh I love it when German automakers business developers drop by or proxy by the Corvette Forum.
