Default Anyone w/ a GM truck ‘97 to ‘07?

I’m curious if you have this problem . . . .

I have owned a half dozen of these, the last one (a 2006 2500HD) I still have. All have had an annoying rattle while driving on roads just slightly less than perfect condition). In the past I just traded the truck in for a newer one but the newer truck would develop that same rattle and loose feeling after the first year warranty was gone. It drove me nuts but I never put out the time to research.
This past week I found out this is a very common problem, caused by a poorly designed plastic steering column bearing part # 905-512, A $15 Dorman made replacement part and fairly easy to install if you are limber to get in above the foot pedals and the base of the steering column for about 20 minutes.

Purchased a new to me 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 last year. Same issue now with it. Drove me nuts trying to diagnose until I researched the problem. On my list of things to do.
