WTF....I just looked a new GT500 on AutoTrader
So I have owned a handful for sports cars. On my second c7z06. Love it. A few cars ago I bought a 2013 gt500 with the blown 5.8. 2.8 kenne bell, 800 rwhp. AND I hated it. Suspension sucked, tranny sucked, solid motors mounts = nvh’s in the steering wheel and car. I bought it used didn’t lose much trading it on a turbo Porsche. But good lord it seemed like a waste of $53k, and completely turned me off from Ford performance cars.
after seeing a new gt500 priced at $120k msrp I’m floored. Wtf. Both of my z06’s were $70k, 1lz’s of course. If I paid $120k for a gt500 after driving a c7z06 I’d feel beyond ripped off. What a rip, $120k mustang wtf. End rant

Interesting read in Car and Driver on the GT500 vs. the Camaro ZL1. Price was definitely an issue among many other factors.

before I bought my 2017 Z51 in November I test drove a 2015 gt350 and a 2016 gt with a 727hp supercharged engine....hated both honestly, too much power for the cars to handle, hard to put it to the road without slicks on a hot day, only enjoyed 3rd great up...and I had a 500 hp gt mustang that I really enjoyed too
however....if Chevy doesn’t bring back a manual corvette I might be buying another mustang down the road....

I’m not sure how that GT500 was configured at $120k, but the new GT500 starts at $73k and is actually a pretty good performance value with 760hp. Randy Pobst drove it back to back against a Porsche 911 GT3 RS GT3 RS vs. GT500 and they were within .2 seconds of one another. That said, I’d still rather have a Corvette.
13 Shelby “performed” at the track too but behind the wheel it was a pig muscling it’s way around the track.

Ford has a real issue with dealers charging exorbitant ADMs. Not that other brands don't, but it seems like Ford is putting out more special cars that are getting high Adms. It's the price you pay to be the first guy with one, in 6 months they'll sell at msrp or less.
The GT500 has no appeal to me. A GT350, that has a lot of appeal.

Kid up the street has a new, $25K Mustang that looks just like the GT500 only not as much glitz.
Funny, none of the kids have a new, $25K Corvette that looks just like a Corvette.

Cars can be too easy to drive fast. I prefer a car that requires some skill and driver involvement. Those 2013 GT500s still bring big money on the used market,

Ford has a mustang for just about every type of buyer, ( electric on the way ) entry level & affordable on up to world class performance and expensive to most. This is not a bad business model and apparently its still working. Not so sure what the future holds for the camaro?
Bash on mustangs and the dealerships that sell them all you want if it makes you feel better fellas.

This is the exact reason I will not buy a mustang.. Not because of the performance, because from 18 grand to 120 grand is the same exact car.. throw some parts on and change the engine and bam, charge 120 grand for it... Don't get me wrong, Camaro and Corvette do the same exact thing, they just use 2 different cars...
Every time a V8 Mustang drives by I absolutely love the music coming from those engines and pipes.... Because it uses the same parts it is cheaper for kids to add parts so the mustang is always being modded by small shops across every city in the country... For Corvette's we all have to travel hundreds of miles or ship our cars across the country and cost thousands of dollars to get modified...
Just different sides of the coin

I didn’t ship my gt500 anywhere to put a kenne bell on it and supporting mods. It was done in my garage with an email tune from Lund racing. Z06 has been modded on my driveway thus far. Speak for your self about shipping cars hundreds of miles

I got over on them once I traded my gt500 with 8k miles for $51k with a grenaded motor. The car looked perfect, it idled perfect once you got into boost it fell on its face. Compression test confirmed it was blown. I returned to stock and traded it. I left with the 09 turbo porsche for $76k, 19k miles, 6spd car. They called me for months trying to unwind the deal. I told them as is, inspect your cars, if you don't like the trade send it auction. They went as far as to play them game of not paying off my trade for 60 days. I called the indirect lender they used and informed the territory rep of the false paperwork they filed. I got one more dealership owner call to try to unwind the deal then it was paid off in 3 days. They would definitely screw me if I tried to buy anything or trade anything ever again. But I did however get over on one used car dealer once. Muwhaha.
For anyone who thinks it's unethical, they had two opportunities to inspect it. And these ****'s rape people daily. They made the coin to fix or loss from dealer auction in 48 hours.

You prolly should have just said I like corvettes...not mustangs ( very common around here ), That would have made more sense and really... thats what it all comes down to.

Yeah these Ford dealers don't get to make much off the plethora f150's they sell. And when they see a car they can overprice they do without thinking twice. Case in point my gen 2 raptor purchase. I know multiple people who paid $10k over sticker for a 17, I waited 6 month to get a 17 raptor for $9k off sticker. Mine was loaded 802a package. One of my friends tried to tell me.paid $5k over then I looked at his paperwork. He paid $8500 over. So these stealerships will tell you one thing and write it up another way.
