12 characters VIN?
I have a VIN for a 1965 Chevy C-10 pickup. It's 12 characters long. Google searches are KILLING me with non-helpful "classic car VIN" lookup links! Can someone please recommend a useful "classic car VIN" lookup site? Thanks

I found these, not VIN specific but they do have some good info.

I guess I should have been more specific about "VIN lookup". I didn't mean decode the VIN. That's as simple as it can be for a 65 Chevy pickup. e.g. The attached 0008.pdf from LMC Truck.
What I was looking for was to verify a little vehicle history. I say was because I bought the truck. I'm in Texas. What I know is the previous owner owned the truck for 10 years. He had it titled and registered in Houston. Previous to that the truck was (I'm told) in San Antonio for I don't know how long. I assume the truck was titled and registered there. I successfully did the title transfer in Denton Co. (Texas). So the DMV didn't have a problem with the existing title. Registration on Monday after I get a temporary vehicle transit permit. Insurance company also didn't have a problem with the VIN.
So. Why is there no place where I can verify a little truck history (not Carfax obviously)? Maybe not all the way back to 1965, but, at least "recent history" in Texas.

I'm a data guy. So what really sucks is that my VINs (67 Vette, C10 pickup) ARE in Texas datastores and it's a complete mystery why someone can't access it. pre- 17-digit VINs included.

In my case, I had bought the car new, kept it for 25 years, before I sold it, in 2001, to buy my Corvette. The info they had on the car didn't include my ownership, or the 6 years after I sold it, maybe to privacy laws in NY. Their data picked up in 2007, showing the car in Wyoming, followed by Arizona, and finally Montana.
