Default Laguna Seca ALMS 10/18/2007

Is anyone going to this?

Maybe we could caravan down?

October 18-20
2:45PM PDT
Duration: 4:00 Monterey Sports Car Championships
Salinas, CA, US
For the fourth straight season, scenic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca serves as the season-ending venue for the American Le Mans Series. With a race that runs into darkness, the Monterey Sports Car Championships has offered some of the closest competition and fantastic finishes on the Series’ calendar. Come and be a part as the American Le Mans Series crowns its champions.

Unfortunately, I will not be making the trip this year. My sister in-law gets married the same day and I've been drafted to participate in the ceremonies.

I can yell you that this event IS FAR AND AWAY better than the Portland race ever was. The track is much more interesting. The racing is much more interesting. The Corvette Corral is bigger and better.

It's a long drive from Portland. We did it a couple years ago in the family wagon (well, family F-350 crew cab dually anyway ).

I am already working on logistics of going down. The tuner I use is running a five car GT3 Cup Team and it looks like I may get a pit pass from him and lending them a hand.

There is also a Chevy Car Corral which should be fun.

I would be interested in a small caravan to drive down. Trust me, it won't be on I5!

Do it!!! I was thinking it would be cool to stay some place like Santa Cruz or Half Moon Bay. Monterey will be booked up and expensive.

We need to show them Oregon does support the ALMS, just not so much on 105 degree days.

santa cruz, and monterey are pretty places, when i lived there i used to visit both places about a dozen times during the summer months to get away from the triple digit temps.

HWY 17 is an awesome corvette highway with lots of curves
