Default Pikes Peak in 12 minutes

Okay, so it's not in a Corvette, but it is great fun to watch. Enjoy. Full screen is best...

Straight cut gears, sequential shifter, great power to weight, incredible skill and big nads! WOW!

Made my day, thanks.

Are the straight-cut gears causing that whining noise? It almost sounds like a Turbo but I didn't think the GT3 had a turbo(s)

Any idea what the reason is for two shift lights?

Yep, that's a characteristic of straight cut gears. I was going to a put straight cut gearset from Australia in my S2000 but changed my mind at the last minute because of the noise.

Like Dean said, Very large XXXX'S. quite a different driving style in gravel and pavement. I drove it many years ago and it was mostly gravel. Was in a FWD rental car and I clocked 31 minutes and was shaking at the top. Spent some time looking over the edge 2 miles down to town so was very conservative. What a ride!!

I bet those guys need wheelbarrows to carry their XX's around in. I've done some crazy stupid stuff before...but that over the edge...(pun intended)! Not much room for error in that type of racing. Going back and forth between road surfaces, add mudd and ice melt on top of it.

Very impressive driving skills.

Amazing how much more effort it took to get the power down and keep the car in control on gravel/dirt vs pavement.

Seems like the perfect application for paddle shifters.

Thanks for posting.

.....to tell him the best time to shift? Every time they blinked, he shifted, except for downshifting. I think the gearbox was the whining noise, for sure.

THanks Keith. That must be why they're called shift lights.

But why two of them? Just redundancy with a purpose?

I am noticed that too, I am thinking so he can see them no matter where his hands are when they light up. I really don't think he needs them though, he seemed to have his hand on the shifter before they came on almost every time.

I did too. I'm surprised we didn't meet there. Boeing is a great place if you have no incentive. If you have incentive, they'll remove it for you.

"Old" is a relative term. For me it has always been 20 years older than whatever I was at the time. But now, not a lot of people are living that long. I'm not as young as I used to be, and never was.

Would I be standing that close to fast cars on gravel? No. Definitely, NOT. You just can't tell when the SHTF on a race car.

I found that very hard to believe myself. You see this sort of thing during European rallies all the time. In other parts of the world it is more common to see the spectators in the middle of the road, parting like the Red Sea as the competitors speed by.

I find it difficult to imagine the Pikes Peak organizers can figure out a way to make this sort of thing allowable without being taken in front of the court by the Sakaroves and the Tax lawyer on TV with the funny cowboy hat.. But I have a theory, to whit,

It appears to me in further review of the video - and with a bit of applied knowledge of motorsports - that the number of spectators at any given point along the course is directly proportional to the most likely places for a competitor to become involved in a serious mishap. You know, like one of those inconvenient 10,000 foot drop-offs. Thus, the driver, noting the large number of people at any given place, instinctively slows, thereby reducing the perceived risk to both themselves and the spectators. (or, as they were called during Roman Colosseum days, "The Mob")

Okay, Keith, I await your erudite dissertation on the History of Roman social activities . Actually I enjoyed your response to the "Hector was a Pup" comment. Even though I do not believe the last win by the Wood Brothers was around 1000 BC.

It's just an opinion...

Very cool. Got to race the Teller County Hill Climb but they never allowed 3 wheelers to compete on the Peak. I really wish they would of but the pavement would of been a problem.

Awesome video, and I'll add myself to the "I don't have those kind of stones" list
