A hypothetical question so don't read anything into it, (Phil). At least not yet. Lets say you owned a C6 ZO6 or ZR1 that was only a good weather/weekend/GTG drive and you were inclined to purchase a new C6 GS as a second car to have as an every day drive. Would you get the an automatic trans in the new every day drive C6 or, once again, get the manual? Just curious for no other reason.
For me a corvette has got to be a manual transmission. But I have to agree that for an every day driver a A6 car wouldn't be that bad at all. I like driving my big burb or my wifes Lexus and not having to shift in stop and go traffic and sitting there with my left foot getting lots of exercise.
For me, it would depend on a number of factors. If there is lots of stop and go city driving, I would go with an auto trans. Same if there were lots of hills (think downtown Tacoma or Seattle). If it was mostly freeway driving, then a manual would work but so would the auto.
With the auto trans and paddle shift, you can still have the feel of a manual but without the extra exercise the left leg will get with the manual.

It would depend entirely on how much time you'd have to spend with the clutch pushed in. An auto trans with a high stall tc can be lots of fun
........ but coming from your car I would think that almost anything would be a let down for you.
....... if it's going to be a "bad weather" car then gobs of torq would not be what you'd necessarily want.
Fred - everything straight forward with your taxes or is there something I can help with, answer any questions? I'm currently working for the gov't but do have a masters in tax and am a CPA.

Well, here is why I posted the question. I had budgetted this year for being underpayed on my taxes by about $7000. If that figure held, given the deals that Ken Finchtner is offering this month ($51,500 for a 3LT GS coupe or $56,300 for a 3LT GS Convertible) I was going to buy one. Unfortunately, a preliminary run through my taxes looks like I'll be short to Uncle Sam a considerable amount more. So maybe next year this time, if the same deals are going, I'll look at this again.
Aaron, Thanks for the offer, but, at this point, I'm good. If I run into a problem, I'll take you up though.
If I had a ZR1 or a Z06 I would get a convertable A6. While it is nice to pull the coupes top in nice weather there is to much buffeting at speed above 35mph. Not that it stops me.

You really hope that you owe again next year! Makes for a good year overall.
