Another economic victim...
Well, my turn today - out of work for the first time in my life.
It's sure going to be a new experience looking for a job cold...

Sorry to hear the news. Do not let the looking for work process get to you. Just remember, the good weather time of year is fast approaching. If you can, take advantage of the extra hours to enjoy the Corvette and the sunshine.

Very sorry to hear that Bill. It can be very difficult on many diffrent fronts.
After a lot of on and off for the past 10 months I finally landed a job with benefits and a decent wage.
Networking is often your best bet for lining something up these days. Also have a look at Boeing. With the tanker deal sealed now they are going to be doing a lot of hiring as well. I probably have near a dozen applications in to them at any one time.
Good luck!

At least you found a good - maybe even great - time if you have to be out of work. All the indicators are looking up, companies are starting to hire again, Spring is here (at least for today) and I'm assuming you have a pretty good work record since this is your first time unemployed.
If you can afford it, financially and emotionally, take a little time to do some things you've always wanted to do. If you've ever considered starting your own company, no better time than now to do so.
At the risk of sounding trite, this may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Dang, that's rough...sorry to hear that.
Patrick has just been through that wringer.
My last and longest period w/o work was in 2003 for six months. I was lucky enough to enjoy most of that time. The new job came along JUST in time though.
Hope things work out well for you. Every time I've been forced out of work, I ended up with something better.

Sorry to hear about that.
Been there a few times in my life and always found it gave me an opportunity to start my own business (admittedly some successful and others not so much).
One really does need to view these setbacks in life as an opportunity. You just need to be willing to think a bit outside the box.
Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear about that Bill. My turn was in February, so I've been taking the last couple of months off to recharge and reset the "I hate corporate America" attitude. Definitely would not have been good going into interviews in the state of mind I was in last month!
Good luck with the search!

I too am sorry to hear your news. It's been just over a year since I was laid off from my last job. That's one year and maybe 5 or 6 interviews in my area of expertise. I hope the turnaround we keep hearing about is going to hit the PNW soon! Enjoy your time off. I have...,

Thanks, everyone for good thoughts and suggestions. I'm lucky; I have savings and investments that can keep us afloat for quite a while. On the reverse, I won't have my BSBA until next year...and at my age in my field the lack of a degree is often a non-starter regardless of experience.
My experience is IT leadership, program/project management, consulting services management and associated areas. I attached my resume - by all means if you see something interesting, don't hesitate to drop me a note

Good luck bud. Things do seem to be starting to move again. I do Industrial services. The last couple years have been brutal. I agree that Boeing will be good place to focus on.

I'm one of the Enterprise Account Executives for Zones locally. Some of my customers (local Fortune 100 IT folks) have been talking about hiring recently.
You are in the right industry to be looking for work

Bill, Sorry to hear about the layoff.
But as so many others have said, the economy looks to be picking up and Boeing should be hiring for the tanker contract.
Best of luck to you.
