32/40 mpg ?
Does anyone know the story re: a black C6 coupe with a large white sign w/ green lettering on the door that says 32 (I think) /40 MPG? I passed it tonight around Bellingham coming back from Canada on I-5. It was going north. There are other signs or logos on the car I couldn't make out.

His car was at the Corvette & High Performance Winter Meet last February. I looked at it and didn't really understand what he had modded to get that sort of mileage.

My C5 gets 25/33 out of the box. When you tell folks that, they look at you like "Yeah....sure you do"....

Yup. Probably the same incredulous look they give this guy.
But why would anyone, regardless of great mileage, run around with a sign on the side of their car proclaiming it? Frankly, while I enjoy the great mileage I get from my C6, I find it beneath my dignity to even mention it. That's not what I want the Great Unwashed Public - the Hoi Polloi, if you will - to think of my Corvette. It's kinda' like Prius owners telling the world that their car goes 186 MPH.
Didn't people used to run around with signs on their cars exclaiming the virtues of the Frantz Oil Filter? Some even had the filter mounted on their fenders. Very cheesy. I miss stuff like that.

Whatever it was, I can't see where the cost of installing a dual turbo system would offset the relatively small increase in mileage. And finding some sort of alternative fuel when traveling would not be easy. Maybe 10+ years from now, but certainly not in the next few years.

At the Puyallup High Performance swap meet this year, there was a vendor with a black C6 (inside) pushing some "new" turbocharger and he claimed that kind of mileage too. Of course, he also claimed a billion HP
Yea right.....
Maybe that was him?
