Default New car

Today I bought a 1962 Thunderbird to go with the 1991, 2000 and 2002 Corvettes. It is a nicely restored car, but does not drive anything like a Corvette. This is just as I got it home today, before any clean up.

Cool! Love the color. How many miles on it and what is the drivetrain?

Great addition to the stable. I've always loved the T-Bird. Great car, congrats.

Nice looking Thunderbird. Hope you enjoy cleaning it up. I like white walls on those cars. Back in the day I had a friend that had a 62' Vert like this one. Great looking car.

I had a 65' like this one Always thought it was a nice looking car.

The odometer shows 74000 miles, but how many times it has rolled around is hard to say.
All of the 61 - 63 Tbirds came with a 390, with either 300 or 340 HP, and a 3 speed automatic transmission. This is the 300 HP version.

Way to go, Keith! I love the "bullet" T-birds.

You must have used a wide-angle lens to capture the side-view.

Phil, it actually fits in my garage. It is only 205 inches (or 17 feet, 1 inch) long. I did use a wide angle lens and stepped back a bit.

That looks cool Keith. Interesting that the ignition is on the left side of the steering wheel. Does it have the high beam button on the floor?

Looks like a nice find of a great T-bird. I've always liked those cars.

Sharp.

I remember those when those were new. Always liked them. And always wondered what the Corvette would have looked like had GM gone down that same road as did Ford with the T-Bird.

Very nice Keith. What do you think about the swing away steering wheel?
I thought it was kinda cool back in the day. A friend of mine put a 406 motor in his for some extra kick.

The ignition on the left will take a little getting used to.
Why yes, it does have the high beam switch on the floor. You are showing your age by remembering those.
The swing away steering wheel is kind of neat, but I do not find it too useful when getting in or out, so far.

I had a '61 red T-bird convertible. Man, I loved that car. The top mechanism gave me fits with all the relays and motors, but I wish I had it back.

Back in the day when I was managing a Mcdonald's (thin red and white tile building) one of my employees had a black one. I always though he had to rob a bank to afford it on the wage he earned from mickey D's. nice car then and this blue looks nice now. Congrats.
