Carol-Jean and I recently took a 3 week trip through the Southwest, visiting friends, family, and museums. While in the Los Angeles area we stopped at the Nethercutt and Peterson car museums. If any of you are in the area you should definitely see these two great museums. Here are a few of the cars in the museums.
At the Nethercutt Museum there is the museum, with about 200 cars in it and across the street is the Collection, with more cars, the Grand Salon, and mechanical music machines and antique French furniture.

Thanks for the photos, Keith. I thought I knew where many of these cars were - or weren't - but no more. Great photography by the way. Got to add these museums to my bucket list (if Walter would give it back to me after he gets done editing it)

Oh, yes, the Bugatti Royale. One of five. Priceless and only once have the five built been together. Pebble Beach some years ago.

Quite the story. I'll bet Keith (kmcoldcars) knows more about these Bugattis than I do. Hope he's checking in.

We were at the Peterson last spring. Definitely worth the visit. Anita and I took the train overnight from Seattle to LA that was fun.

Didn't know about the Nethercutt ... perhaps another train ride. The scenery is great.

Actually 6 were built. They were all together at Pebble Beach a few years ago. I have seen 4 of them - 41111, the Coupe de Ville at Harrah's and then the Nethercutt, 41121, the cabriolet at the Henry Ford Museum, 41141, the Kellner coupe when it was at Briggs Cunningham's collection in California, and 41150, the Berline de Voyage when it was at Harrah's.
I have not seen 41110, the Coupe Napoleon or 41131, the Limousine Park Ward, which are both in the France at the Musée National de l'Automobile de Mulhouse, which was formerly the Schlumpf Brothers collection. The brothers had a collection which included around 130 Bugattis, as I recall.
For the Pebble Beach gathering the two from France were flown over on a 747 for the show.
