Default C7 A8 Shudder

I think I am having the dreaded corvette issue with shudder that many have associated with the torque converter.

The two dealers I have talked with are saying they don't know about the issue. Can someone recommend a dealer to talk with in the seattle area?

How about talking with Corvettes of Auburn... they are pretty knowledgeable and technically well equipped.

Only problem with Corvettes of Auburn is that this is a warranty repair. If I can't get it resolved any other way and have to go out of pocket I will definitely talk with them

Not as of yet, I talked with Bill Piere and they were very accommodating.

Corvettes of Auburn cannot do warranty repair work on new manufacturer's warranties - BUT they are an authorized warranty shop for extended warranties like the GMPP. After my original 3 year warranty was up on my '08, I had them do all the work while I still had the GMPP. Much better peace of mind than taking to a dealership.

I've used Jet Chevrolet once so far and liked the people I dealt with - they said they have a Corvette specialist who has been through the GM training so I'd check them out.

Speedway Chevrolet in Monroe did warranty repair on my wife's 07. We were completely satisfied with the diagnosis and work was completed in a very timely fashion.

The 07 had an oil leak that required a lot of work to resolve.

Not a drip since.

Thinking out loud, this issue has also hit Cadillac since 2015 too. Given that, Chevrolet and Cadillac of Bellevue has probably dealt with a boatload of Caddy and Corvettes on the east side.

Since there's no substitute for experience, I would want a dealership that has been there, done that. This, versus a dealership that is extremely nice but has no relative experience and your car is the training ground for their techs.

My first question(s) would be "tell me what YOU know about this issue", "how many have you done" and "how long will this take you to repair". They're not going to give you a Vette to cruise around in while you wait.

Good luck and let us know how the repair goes, as there are quite a few of us in the area that will probably experience the same thing .

Good advice.

I talked with Bill Piere Chevrolet, they seem to know about the issue and are going to look at my car on tuesday morning. Not even sure I have the issue.
Hoping to get some clarity.

From everything I can gather, if you do have the surge due to 4 cylinder mode, the new TC replacements have no issues

Turned out to be the exhaust. Bill Pierre did an awesome job working with me to get it diagnosed. Very happy with the service! A bit out of the way for me but worth it.

Just out of curiosity, what was wrong with the exhaust? I just got a 2017 and I'm always on the lookout for things I might have to deal with. Saw a video of a guy with a C7 where a bolt the holds the exhaust to the frame had gotten loose and just need to be tightened back up.

made s shuddering noise that got increasingly louder and more frequent. Replacing the exhaust required the the whole backend to be disassembled.

Well I hope that fixed it. Im having a hard time understanding how the exhaust would be associated with the shudder you are feeling. Did they explain that?

engineeering excellence at its finest. C5'and 6's you could replace the exhaust without a tear down. C7's sound incredibly complicated to swap factory for after market pipes

Well the best I can describe it is that when the car started up the exhaust vibrations not working right kept the car in that condition I called shuddering. I know that the problem is dealt with now, so far

I remember the clutch went out on my first ZR1 with less than 5k miles on it. It kept making a terrible squeal when it engaged. The parts were all rusted so they replaced everything and it was all listed on the service repair sheet when I picked up the car.

They told me the parts had to have gotten wet during the build because there is no way the parts could get wet after assembly. Go figure. Half the people I told wanted more information to make sure their car didn't , wouldn't develop the same condition.

I have never heard of another C6 M6 owner having a clutch replaced due to internal rust on the clutch assembly parts ... Crazy
