I guess I'll start with the list of cars I have owned, or was a major contributing part of building.
X2-87 / 86 / 89 Volvo 740 GLE sedans (made several of them hornet racers)
69 El Camino SS-396 (first car I ever did all the body work on myself, and my very first car I owned. My father and I built it over 3 years)
72 Datsun 240Z (first stroker engine I ever built)
93 Twin Turbo RX-7 (street car turned into a single turbo time attack car)
72 Porsche 914 (Porsche registry restoration done by my father and I)
74 Porsche 914 (Super modified vintage chassis car. Had a 315ci Rover V8 in it, the first frankestein I ever built)
75 914 summer commuter (sold to my dad, and we made an all electric car out of it)
96 Mercedes 320SL
07 BMW 328i coupe
95 Ford Probe 4cyl (most gutless car I EVER owned)
04 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0 (built offroad toy for wheeling in snow)
11 VW Jetta
83 / 93 IROC Camaro's
74 Jensen Healey
85 Jaguar XJ6
83 Jaguar XJS
95 Ford Bronco
2001 C5 Corvette Coupe I think that's all of it....i'll add to it if I remember more.
You can really tell I have a thing for 2 doors I have a C5 Corvette because it is physically the most performance, and potential that I could get for my money. I spent months driving sports cars, and test drove just over 100 cars, only 12 or so were Corvette's. Also, it's lines are classically elegant, which drew me to it in the first place as a young man...that and the aluminum block V8! Plus it never hurts to have a good lookin' subject to take pictures of

2008 Corvette Z06 (dust collector)

Thinking about the future:
6th Gen Camaro (Really grown on me)
C7
C8
ME Corvette
2004 C5 Z16 Z06
Something Italian (more classic less modern, have to scratch that itch one of these days. Won't get past St. Peter if I don't answer to the Italian blood)
Gen X. Obviously GM biased here. Grew up Ford. Didn't want to relive dads pain. Switched teams. Got into drag racing (amateur). 2 to 3 days a week at the track. Frankly no better value if you want to go fast (relative), have fun and not go bankrupt trying to keep up.
This feels like a survey.

Holy Cow...i don't feel i'm that old since i teach 8th grade, still have my teeth, and my hair isnt totally grey...until i started thinking of all the cars i've had! But, as far as our "summer fun" cars we have had in the past:
Started out 5 yrs ago with my wife saying "you should buy an old car to fix up with the boys". sweet! after much research and looking around, found an old 66 mustang coupe with NO Rust (now THATS a find) and we put about 6 grand in it. Fun times with my boys for sure. Won several car shows with it and then sold it at a big car show for about 2K more than we had in it.
Turned around and upgraded to a 65 Mustang vert that an old guy had. This one was a bit nicer to start, but we did paint, detailed/painted the engine and bay, redid the seats, and some small stuff. Won some BIG car shows with that one (including Best Mustang at the Little Creek show over a Shelby that had about 40K worth of EXTRA work done at the Shelby shop in CA.
Then the wheels fell off an our neighbor came and told us our driveway was 15' over the property line (after he told us we were fine to lay asphalt for it 12 yrs earler). And yes, i trusted him at his word . so, had to sell the vert to pay him off so he could get a new boat
After 2 years of doing some extra coaching, picked up a sweet little 02 miata with only 24,000 miles as we needed a vert to get us by when it was actually sunny and it was cheap! kept coaching and saving and sold the miata for 3K more than i bought it for and bought the vette. Don't think the wife will EVER part with it. It is so fun! And i would feel comfortable driving it anywhere unlike the Mustangs where you never know what will go wrong with a 50 yr. old car no matter how nice it is. Corvette coupe is a garage queen but isn't really a show car with it being an 02!

Hey there, you young whippersnapper! I just retired from teaching for 43 years but got so bored that I’m back in the classroom subbing around our district. Gives me something to do plus puts some play money into my pocket. Just turned 66 and feel like I’m just getting started!
Great to hear about your projects with your boys. Are they into Corvettes as well?

heck, you started in your early 20's like me! good for you Unfortunately i'm getting a little worn out. Ive coached 2 sports for the past 26 years and 3 sports for the past 3 yrs - its been fun for sure but now that my boys (18 and 16) are getting ready to go to college, i'm finding its going to be a little tough financially to help them out too much (hoping i don't have to sell our vette!). Yes, the boys LOVE the corvette. It was always kind of a PITA to be in the garage working on the mustangs in the winter when you could see your breath and couldn't feel your fingers. They would say it was totally great and they learned a ton, but it sure is nice to just go out and fire up a true american sports car like the corvette and pretty much drive it anywhere without having to worry about breaking down on the side of the road! (they liked the miata, but said it was kind of a "girly" car!) Subbing is pretty great-my wife started doing that last year to help us start saving for the guys college. Easy $100 if you sub for the right teacher!!!

One thing stands out in the list as unusual. Did you really have a Rambler station wagon? This must have been during your dating years and possibly during the golden age of Drive In Theaters. Just curious.

Burning Brakes
Yes I did Phil. When I was discharged from the Army I was basically broke. I needed wheels to get to the first job I could find and $150.00 bought it. It was a basket case but I drove it for four years and never serviced, washed or vacuumed it. Sold it for what I payed. It was one of only two six cylinder cars I have owned, the other being the Explorer.

A lot of nice cars people on here have owned and it's been fun reading about them! I'd always figured Pat had great taste in cars and his list proves it.
I'm currently watching football on my couch while the rain continues to fall - and itching to go for a nice drive in my Z06... Not as enjoyable when it's 45 degrees and raining.
Oh well, it can't rain all the time...

However I will confess to doing just that a few times just so I could have a chance to drive something brand new. A Maserati Quattroporte for example.(the big Q II, not the ones that they make now)
