Sprung for all new camera gear this year! Gonna do a shoot soon.
I decided it was time to do something with my photography again...or at least spend a load of dough on all new pro gear
Black Friday had some wicked good deals, so I picked up a brand new Nikon D750 AND a studio quality tripod, with a really heavy duty 3-axis head, all from Manfrotto Which is good, because this sucker weighs a ton!
It was definitely time to retire the D90; with almost 400,000 on the shutter count, it is starting to produce ghosted images, and it is not a dirty sensor :/ In to service it goes.
Looking forward to using this bad boy; anyone up for a tandem photo shoot

Would you be interested in some night photography? I'd be game if there's a dry day with temps over 40. I've got a D600 with a good tripod, a studio umbrella and a light wand. You can do some fun stuff with that. Here's an example....

Light painting is a ton of fun I haven't done it since before I owned my Vette. I do a lot of low light photography, and I work 3rd shift, so I am up all night anyways Got a day/night in mind??? I have been all over doing photo shoots with cars, so I have the good low down 9n locations. I'm out of Marysville. How long have you had your D600? Ya don't see many in service.

I've had the D600 since they first came out. I had a D80 before that. Really haven't used it much at all. I was very active with a local photography club when I had the D80. Was doing so much, I upgraded to the D600 and also picked up some good lenses. Of course, right around that time things changed in life and photography got left behind.
No particular day in mind. Will be tough to find a dry day over 40 for the next month or two, but if I see a forecast that looks promising, I'll drop you a PM or post here. In terms of location, I can head north if you know of some good spots, or we could just meetup and explore around a little.

Yeah my D90 was a DX sensor like your D80, which is why I wanted to upgrade to an FX full frame sensor before investing in more glass. You don't see many D600's because the bodies tended let in dust somehow, and the ones at the end of the production run all had oil on their sensor. They came out with the D610 to address the issue, so the D600 is kinda rare (interesting little tidbit).
I shoot video as well (wuich is why I got a D90 when it first came out, since it was the very first DSLR to shoot video) so I needed something with better capacity for that, but couldn't swallow the $3400+ on sale price tag for JUST a D810 body without a lens so the D750 was my choice. My father in law is a Canon fan, and he just got an FX 5D Mk.4, which is a generation newer and $1000+ more in cost, but from my experience using, and handeling it, I gotta say they still can't quite match the Nikon's overall general quality...but I'm a Nikon nerd
Keep me in mind, and I'll look forward to hearing from ya in the not so frigid future

Hey guys, it's nice to see some photography fans on the forum and in Washington state to boot! I'm on the other side of the mountains in Wenatchee. I'm also a Nikon fan and shoot with a D800 with the Trinity set of lenses and a D300 for back-up and hand held work. If you care to check out a sampling of my work you can see it here; https://500px.com/garrick_liddell

It's hard to believe, but they're calling for a warm and dry weekend. I'd be game for hooking up this coming Sunday (1/14) at some time before or after sunrise. Thinking about the general area of Seattle. Perhaps West Seattle looking back or maybe even cruise around the west shore of Lake Washington.

I definitely want to do this, count me in
My wife has a big work party we are going to Saturday, so my Sunday should be open. I can do anytime before and around dawn, whichever is your preference. Around dawn we will be dealing with the dew point, so I'll bring a bunch of new micro fiber towels with. Between the two of us we shouldn't have any problem with it.
I have been photographing cars in Seattle for quite literally a decade, so I know lots of great spots to shoot at. I have, however, never spent any time around Lake Washington! Generally I hit 1 or 2 places that are a known quantity, and then drag the gut through industrial zones (mostly because I also enjoy photographing urban decay), but I am down for whatever
This gives me a good reason to put my Ti mufflers back on, and give her a proper detail. I pulled my Corsa Extreme's off to partially pay for my D750, but I just haven't had the space in the shop (or drive ) to acutally put the thing back together.

Definitely want to be shooting in the dark, so if morning works best, looks like sunrise is at 7:52, so maybe meet early enough such that our last shoot location will coincide with sunrise. I like the idea of planning on two known locations followed by some exploration. Just taking photos in one location for one car is around 30 minutes I'd think. Add in driving time and whatnot, maybe meet at 5:30 am at our first location? Maybe start in West Seattle? You pick the 2nd location and then we can explore Lake Washington a little. There might be something good around Seward Park. Not sure how early we can get in there or how early it starts getting traffic.

5:30am at the boat launch in West Seattle is perfect. I work 3rd shift, so I am typically up all through the night until around 9am, so don't worry about me haha!
Hmmm 2nd location...2nd location. There is a really amazing parking garage under Buca di Beppo near Seattle center, good white light in there, I'll attach some sample pics. The red in there would play nice with your C7 I think.
We could also see if the parking structure directly across the street from Safeco field is open. The area is great at sunrise; wide open roof, lots of background city scape views from each deck, and not many people around when there isn't a game. There are 3 really good graffiti walls I know of as well. One is in Belltown, one in Pioneer Square, and one just south of the Showbox in Sodo.
As a side note, I just bought a Westcott Icelight 2 for my future foray into light painting

Great shots!
This thread is making me and my D300 feel dated.
Guess it might be time to upgrade!
Have to finish my 69 project first though! I don't need any more distractions there! LOL!
I love the light painting affect! I may have to google that!
The shots are beautiful!
