No front plate tickets

Interesting topic. Been ticketed for no front plate in a 72 Malibu. We were in a small WA town called Ritzville. My current Vette was purchased with one collector plate. Is the collector plate an exemption to this. Or do they come in pairs, and I am missing the front?

Stopped and ticketed in Astoria, OR in my C6 in 2007. Had to mount a plate and have it signed-off at a sheriffs office, then to the court house. No fine.

Seriously? The law is the law....if you don’t like it...change it....or move.
I used to run without...I guess as a small protest...but after a few tickets I decided I didn’t need or want the hassle.
Plus I’m sick to death of bitching whining and moaning...grow the F-x- up.
Oh Geezzze Phil, I think I’m about to get banded....again.
To each their own....Just sayin.
Apologies in advance.......

Stupid me. I parked in front of the Tacoma Municipal building with no front license plate....got a ticket just like Aaron suggested happens in Tacoma. Now, I have front license plate...but it is just a bug catcher. ;-)

After I got the no front plate ticket in Tacoma but before I got the "show & go" license plate frame, I used blue painters tape and taped my front plate to the front bumper when I had to park on the street in Tacoma - no tickets but you have to remember to remove it before driving. Don't know how strong the blue painters tape is and didn't want to test it.
Didn't look good but it served its temporary purpose.

Are out-of-state visitors ticketed for no front plate in Washington or Oregon? Montana requires them but we don't mount them here and I've never heard of anyone being ticketed in Montana.
Thanks

This discussion has been going on for years. Seems to me there was a bill sponsored by one of the representatives in Olympia to do away with the front license plate. You can imagine how far that went.
There used to be a method by which an owner of "certain cars" (like Ferrari 308s) could appeal to the state for an exemption o the front plate rule by arguing that there was no mounting area for a front plate and that mounting one would cause damage to the car by way of inadequate engine cooling or some other reason related to safe operation of the vehicle in question. The owner was required to carry the exemption letter - if issued - in the car in the event they were pulled over. Not sure that option is currently available. Even with the exemption it was a hassle to get stopped.
I will at least say that the C7 Corvetts with the (optional?) front plate bracket dosn;t look all that bad. Certainly better than the cheapie tape backed frame on the C6's.
Unless you are an off-duty police officer or have the mother of all excuses (My dog ate my license plate just this morning) You run the risk of being ticketed. Unless, maybe your car is registered in another state that doesn't require them.
Yes, it's a bummer and IMO another way for the State to collect some money by way of fines.

For Washington state, only collector plates are allowed to run with the single plate. And those are only issued to vehicles that are at least 30 years old now. So one would have to go back to a C4 (1988) to qualify as a collector plate vehicle.
