Default A quick drive turned into 400 miles today.

Evening everyone!

Today with the awesome weather the fiancé and I decided to go for a quick drive... it ended up being about 7 hours and 400 miles. We ended up starting the cascade loop at 2pm. We got to Winthrop around 5 and we were going to just grab some food and head back. But we decided to keep going and went to Chelan... then Leavenworth and back home. It was an amazing drive until we got over Stevens Pass and saw flashes of lightning in the distance. It was pretty cool until we were in the middle of it and the rain was coming down so hard I couldn’t see the lines on the road. But we took it slow and made it home around 11:30. Here’s a few pictures from the day.

We really do live in a beautiful part of the country. Beaches to the west and mountains to the east. I wanted to pull over and take more pictures on Highway 20 but we started our trip late.

I also did a weekend run of a thousand miles and odd part is I went by a different Jacks tavern. Between Lolo hot springs Mt and Alberton Mt on a back road.
Jacks is a log structure way back off the main highway on a dirt road but must have had a hundred cars parked there. Road would have been ok but it did rain pretty good in the morning and now the car will need to be washed. Corvettes were meant to be used not parked in the garage. Thanks for sharing.

Default Leavenworth

This looks to have been a great drive. Our club goes to Leavenworth every January and while it is definitely NOT corvette weather, it's still a great drive and a fabulous time!

After I took the drive “Facebook memories” told me that I bought my C5 a year ago to the day. I miss that car a lot since it was always my dream car and was my first Corvette. I had a great time but I thought about my old car a lot.

That is one of my favorite drives. Thanks for sharing...

Several years ago, a group of Vettes made that trip across to Winthrop. I will not reveal the speeds attained that day. Suffice it to say that it was the first and last such cruise we did as a group. But I will say that I enjoyed the scenery those few times that I dared to take my eyes off the road for an instant.

Wonder if anybody here remembers that trip...I know Aaron does. I was behind his yellow C6 for long stretches...

That's what it's about.

Grand Touring. Driving and enjoying it, even when the weather turns bad.

A Beautiful drive, for sure. Reminds me a bit of what a few of us Ducati Riders used to do for fun. I do not remember the details except to say it was a timed event based on the receipts acquired at three designated gas stations One on Snoqualmie, one on Blewitt Pass and another somewhere on Stevens Pass. Probably in Levenworth. Can't remember if the award was given to the lowest time or if on a calculated total time based on some sort of speed limit

Good fun for an experienced rider on a sport bike, but I'm thinking the route and idea might make for a similar event for a club or group of people taking the route.

Of course I suppose one would need time allowed for overnight, say, in Wnithrop or Leavenworth, but that's easy enough to figure out.

You could also create some sort of a scanner hunt - not to get out of the car, based on landmarks and signs along the way.

Still, Ducati or Corvette, it's a nice trip.

So, Im about to take Delivery of a 2017 Grand Sport. Luckily I found this thread because I immediately called the dealership and added the 6 year / $6000 max tire / wheel plan right then.

I figure, this will buy me time to find the right wheel / tire combo over the next year in order to make this GS the perfect car for me.

Thank you guys for this thread. I could have had a costly adventure!
