Dark Spots in Paint, Nassau Blue
I just had my car painted Nassau Blue. Car was gel coated, sealed and primer applied before the paint and clear coat.
There are places on the car were it looks like the dark pigments in the paint gathered and left some areas with a blackish blue appearance. The areas in question are where the paint runs down hill i.e at the top of the rear fender where it mates with the door.
It is almost like a magnetic gathering of the paint pigments. there are some other areas where there are some black like specs in the paint.
How can this problem be corrected?
Thanks

Melting Slicks
Have your painter look at it and then politely but firmly tell him you expect a repaint since the only way to repair mottling/clumping is to sand and respray. There is some chance that the material is at fault, not the painter so suggest he get the jobber/manufacturer involved if he insists it is not his technique that is faulty here. I stress that you not get adversarial in your conversations (yet anyway)! The shop owner may not have been the person who OKed the release of the job to you and showing your azz from the start will increase the odds you'll get "push back" on the redo.
