Default My background, Subject Vehicle, and Objectives

Starting Point.
I'm a once upon a time ASE Master Tech.

Driven out of the field by 1st gen SFCC Oil, which took the skin off my hands. MANY like me out there back in 1985, when this happened.

But I'd been a Line Tech for Chrysler and Chevrolet (Corvette Tech) during my 'career'.

Changed to Computers (Long - Slow - Painful voyage, I assure you).

Three Corvettes in my life, 40 years ago.
MANY HOT RODS of varying quality.... LOL

Body Work?
Let's just say that 40 years ago, you would have shot me on sight.
Thank Gawd we didn't have digital cameras back then. ugh.

Mostly, my modus operandi back then was to have the BEST Mechanical condition vehicle under the hood and chassis, but a rough primered body. Faked a lot of people out.

I did have one particular Camaro painted by a shop. Nice Black.

More recently, you would have shaken your head while 'attempting' to have pity on me.

1983 Chev S-10 pickup paint job, Rustoleum spray cans that turned out 'nice', considering.... LOL
Hey, I used a LOT of POR15 and 1000 thru 1500 grit wet sanding.. It had a great shine to it.

BUT

I have "Perspective", my experiences in my past tell me what I DON'T KNOW....

I've welded in new floors and cab corners. Even welded in ALL NEW ROCKER PANELS, inner and outter. The base stuff came out pretty good for an 'amateur'.

But that was all METAL BODY stuff.

And it's time to LEARN .... For my CORVETTE.

Because MY BABY NEEDS ME....

I'm Old, Retired, and POOR, so my most plentiful asset is TIME.

I hope to be a Good Student.

Here's to the FUTURE!

I guess you will add any question(s) BEFORE you get started in the paint and body aspect of your Corvette.

PLEASE do not be 'one of those' type of people who jump in thinking it is so easy and THEN they ask for help once they realize that they really screwed something up. And as you yourself wrote. "being POOR"....it would be wise to make sure every step you take is one that pays off and no backtracking.

I am sure that you will be a good student. The PROPER ATTITUDE has so much to do with this type of work.
