painting 69 headlight bezels
I picked up a set of used headlamp bezels. These are the metal ones, not the later fiberglass ones. What do I use to remove the old paint and prep for priming and painting?

They can either be chemically stripped or thrown into a blast cabinet and glass beaded.

Thanks. That was what I was thinking. But wouldn't glass beading leave a (for lack of correct wording) glassed beaded, rough look and feel? As you can tell, I'm not a body person, But I have access to one. I'm not sure if they would know how to prep these which I assume are pot metal without damaging them.

The blaster would leave a roughened surface, which you need for adhesion of the primer. By the time they are stripped, primed, sanded, painted and polished they should look perfect. Of course, it is possible to continuously blast an area and go through the metal, but difficult. Fiberglass bezels could be more easily damaged with a blaster and other methods for paint removal would be preferred.

I use either glass beads or the aluminum oxide media that is about 60 grit adn I can blast those bezels and not have any problems.
As like Dave mentioned...it might have a slight rough texture to it but that is no major problem.
