Default Body mount repair suggestions please

I was leveling my 79 to continue the body modifications when I noticed this crack in the body shell at the driver's side rar mount. I really don't want to remove the body from the frame so I'm looking for suggestions as to how and if I can repair this without doing that. Can I just remove the two rear most body to frame bolts and lift it enough to remove the metal body mount frame that goes around the fiberglass? Can I just go at it from inside the car without removing the body mount or lifting the body, just by feathering the crack inside the cavity and layering in new matt and resin? The last one is my preference if I can do that.

Priya.

YES...you SECOND method of repair can be done.

I would go in on the inside and take a really good look and see where the cracks are.

If they seem to stop before they make the turn where the caged nut is located. You can go in and really prep it well and laminate it up on the inside with your West Systems resin and mat.

AS you already know...make sure you really prep it well and taper it and try to get out all of the distressed fibers that are around the crack.

You can clean up the 'wheel side' and apply tape over the cracks and that will keep your resin from dripping all over the place.

I honestly feel in my gut that you can do this without any major problems.

With you already having applied so much mat and resin on your project. AS you know. it is all about being able to get eh are prepped correctly and being able to get in there an successfully apply the mat and resin. And doing it from the inside can save you time and effort in having to deal with the #4 mount bracket and all that stuff.
