I don't do that stuff but I can agree with him
Wrapping a hood with the clear paint protecting film is one thing due to it can be stretched and made to have no wrinkles...or cut and pieced in to make it look right.
But the carbon fiber effect would get distorted in some way....so...if you can live with it having bad looking areas...or an area where you can tell it was pieced in......then I guess you can do that.
