I need to bond the inner wheel wells panels to the frame on a C5. Does any one have any advice they can offer? What kind of adhesive did you use?

Just do not take off all of the previous adhesive GM applied so you can use it as a shim to set the apron where it needs to go.

You can grind down GM's adhesive in some areas but in the areas where you will clamp it...do not take off all of it but MAKE SURE you prep it correctly as pre SEMS recommendations.
