Have any of you Z owners bought and installed yourself or had installed this cam from LG motor sports? I'm thinking on pulling the trigger on this mod since I have the LG street series LT on my Z. What are the pro's/con's. What was cost for this cam kit? Is the Z streetable as a daily driver? How's the idle lobe? Do you get the fuel/gas smell while stopped? What was your dyno gaine #'s. Any info on this cam would be helpfull.

There are tons of posts on this cam. Enough to make you nauseas if you read them all.
Bottom line: good cam, high price, decent lope, mostly streetable with a good tune. The tune will make or break this cam.

The G5X3 is probably the most popular cam for the LS6. I'd say one can expect on average a gain of between 45-50 rwhp and 30-35 rwtq, assuming you have the "standard" bolt-on's already in your Z.
I'd recommend the cam on the 114 lsa. It has a little less lope, and there is enough room that you won't need to fly cut. You'll not see any real power differences between the 112 vs the 114 lsa. I'd also recommend that you buy the complete kit from LG (including UD pulley) as he provides the Comp 921 dual springs...the extra insurance you'll want with this fairly large cam. After a good tune, I'd rate this cam as well above average for streetability.
Now that you have heard the pros on this cam I will tell you the cons at least for me, just so you are aware of what you will be getting. The car will shake back and forth while idling even with a perfect tune. You will notice a huge lack of low end torque that makes street driving not as fun when leaving a light. You will have to get gears to compensate for this. I think of this cam as a good cam for drag racing, where the low end can be bad because you're leaving at 3k plus RPM and the highend is very good which will get you better numbers. Is it streetable? Of course it is but you are giving up low end for high end and dealing with the characteristics of a large cam (shaking and loping like a ****). Some people love this some people don't.
If I do go with this cam I'm going to drive to TX to allow LG do the install and dyno-tune for maximum performance out of this cam package. I'll have to meet a Z owner who has this cam imnstalled and see for myself the idle shake and driveablity. Thanks again for your help. Thanks guys for your responces to my post.
sorry to hijack but i dont want to start another thread..
if i get ud pulleys, lt headers, ported tb, ls6 intake, and z06 ti catback i can make 390-400 rwhp? and since i live in Hawaii will a mail tune work or will i have to ship someone from another island and give the car a street tune?

With a 6-speed you should make at least 400 rwhp, probably a little more. As far as mail order tune, call LG I think I remember someone getting one for the G5X3 and their longtubes.

Pulling mine out next week to go with something more tame and easier to drive...the cam does make good power, but to me its not worth the headaches and poor drivability. Just my .02
Real good cam. Very top end cam also. Almost got the MS3. But ended up getting a mail order tune from TSP instead of their cam. Throwing lean codes now. So yes the tune will play a major difference in driveability. I'll get it re-tuned eventually.
Hey Mike!
Long time no see. I almost went with that cam, but it was too big for my heads and I did not want to fly cut. I love an agresive idle and yes, it is all in the tune. As you know, the LG Pros realy wake the car up and make it sound mean. I was off-road for a while, and put on cats for inspection, and they stayed on by acident. The 921s and retainers are awesome, and I had a set in my OEM heads, and put another set on these heads. Only down side is warm up time for the oil with the springs but that is not a huge deal. IMO if you want a very street freindly cam, there are tons of guys going with much smaller cams that are making good power, and great torq. I made 400 with a blower cam and bolt ons, and loved the tune so much, I stayed NA and went with a bigger cam and heads. Good luck brother and give me a call next time you are in Nam.
