Just installed, Tony Mamo ported Fast 90/90

I bought the intake and throttle body used from "Partsguy1", just finished installing and test driving, the SOTP difference was very noticable. My car already has TPIS header, Bassani X-pipe Ported LS6 heads, cam with unknown specs. and a Breathless Performance air intake. Car was reported to make 442 RWHP and 410 RWT. Only problem is now the car wants to stall when pulling up to a light, the stock throttle body had a hole drilled in the butterfly to help compensate, but tuning expertise has come a long way since my car was originally tuned, so know waiting to get the car dynoed and tuned.

How about lower end of the RPM curve?

Also, just to warn you, you may get an error and go into reduced power because of the larger throttle body. This will be corrected with tuning, but the change can violate some of the safety parameters and the PCM will take appropriate action.

Only driven it a few miles so far but below 2,000 RPM nothing noticeable, but at about 2,500 and above things really start to cook. So far no error codes or reduced power, but thanks for the heads up.
I'll have pics up tomorrow.

I really wanted that setup and am going to pick up the piece parts one at a time as we move into summer. With the dyno curves I have seen before and after Tony's ported FAST intake, the improvements are similar to adding a set of heads even in the lower RPM.

As promised pics of the installed Fast 90MM intake and LS2 90MM throttle body both ported by Tony Mamo.

Haven't got the FRC's back on yet as they need to be trimmed to fit the Fast manifold.

What everybody has been waiting for.

Ed (edcmat-l1) just finished Dyno tuning the vette with the new intake and throttle body. Keep in mind that the previous owner reported that the car made 442 RWHP and 410 RWT. Also disregard the A/F ratio on run number 1 as the sniffer tube fell out of the exhaust pipe at the start of the run.

Just to be clear, this isn't before and after but rather two runs after? Curves look good. How is the throttle response now that it is tuned, especially down low can you tell the differentce?

Any idea how much the FRC's need to be trimmed? I have a set of Autobuffs and am verly leary of messing with them.

Vettenuts you are correct the dyno runs are both after the Intake and throttle body install, no dyno runs before, SOTP says there was probably 10-15 HP gain with just the Intake and throttle body and then the extra 22 with tuning.

The FRC's need to be trimmed about 1/4" along the entire length, I've got a drum sander that I can use different size drums, I'll just use the one that is closest to the existing curves for the runners.

Not sure if you have done it yet, but could you take some photo's of the FRC work required?

Vettenuts
I haven't done it yet but I will take before and after pictures, it will take me a couple of days though as it's raining here and I just checked into my new command with the Navy so it's back to work for me.

The FRC's require quite a bit of trimming to fit the FAST intake. My FRC are painted so I was quite nervous about messing with them. I taped the edges that needed to be cut to help eliminate any paint chipping and it worked perfectly. If you want a nice clean edge that follows the FAST runners like the OE setup; it will take some time. The runners on the FAST intake are much larger and offset in some areas to the OE runners. So what I did was install the FRC as much as possible and laid it up against the inake then traced the shape of the runners onto the masking tape using a Sharpie. Removed the FRC from the car and cut the shape into the FRC using a dremel cutoff blade. I repeated this process on each side slowly removing material until it would set into place perfectly. I finished the final shaping using a dremel sanding disk. It looks just like OE and all the gaps are even. I'd say it took probably 3 hours messing around with it and using different techniques to get the look I was after. Alot of the time is the learning curve. As I didn't want to remove too much material all at once so I went very slow on the first one. The second one I did in less than half of the first. I'd say you have to remove at least 1/4 inch in most areas; so don't be scared of taking off too much.

Were yours done by Autobuffs? I seem to be struggling with sanding down $1,000 worth of FRC custom airbrush work.

No, mine were done by Kewl.
If you're extremely nervous about it; try to buy a set of used FRC's for to practice on before chopping into the custom ones. You can pick up a used set for probably $30.

Just started modifying mine today but the weather turned to crap before I could finish the first one but the preliminary results are pretty encouraging. I'll post pics of what I've got done so far later this evening.

Here are pics of my progress so far fitting my FRC's to the FAST intake.

The passenger FRC sitting up against the FAST intake before any trimming.

Drivers side FRC taped up and marked for initial 1/8" trim.

Passenger side FRC after initial 1/8" trim.

Under side of passenger side FRC after initial 1/8" trim.

The drum sander I'm using to do the trimming.

I'll post more pics once the weather clears and I can do more detailed fitting.

Take the FRC that's been taped up and place it on the car. Then use a Sharpie marker to trace the outline of the FAST intake onto the tape. And you will have the shape you need to trim. Do this a couple of times to remove enough material so the FRC fits.
