Round 3. Lets keep it as simple as possible.(Not responsible for any headaches.)

Who gets the title of fastest car?

Rank the order for your "Fast" list.

car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
Remember nowhere does it say quickest.

*If the majority says car #3 takes the title of fastest car then I'm looking into a turbo.lol
*I would hate to think that car#1 gets 5th place.

Many people will argue with that.

My subjective opinion on the order:

car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]
car#[email protected]

It's ET above all else for me.

Maybe. But I think the problem is some people necessarily relate the word 'fast' with mph and 'quick' with ET. I don't think the definition of each word is consistent with that.

2. 9.95 @ 150

Would you still say #1 is the fastest C5? Certainly #1 is the better driver and would win the drag race, but which car is faster in the broad sense of things??
Your assuming that #1 is the better driver because his car trapped at a slower MPH but still won the race? The cars must be taken into consideration before the driver can be given all of the credit. A dedicated strip car vs a street/strip car are two totally different animals and the driver of car #2 may actually be the better driver based on the equipment at hand.

The only way to determine the faster of the two cars is to run them flat out (top end pull) thus basically eliminating the drivers input and making it a mechanical (HP to weight ratio) contest.

I can argue and say that i feel car #3 has the most potential to run the quickest ET but has not therefore he is not the fastest.

It doesn't matter how you word it for me, the fastest car is the car who ran the best ET. I think it is much more impressive when i see a car run a real fast time at a lower mph then it is a high mph car running the same time.

When we are talking a 15mph difference between 2 cars that run the same time i think the car with the higher mph is capable of running the faster time but he has not therefore he is still slower.

MPH doesn't mean anything in drag racing...MPH is just a WOW factor. You know when i see one of those outlaw drag radial cars running 200+ i say "WOW THAT WAS FAST!" but maybe not as fast as the car running 196. I know i think it's silly what we are trying to say here.

ET rules Rob, you already know that... Its how fast you get there that counts, not how fast you were going when you got there!!!!

Car #1 is the fastest of the 4 bc drag racing is an ET competition and #1 reached the finish line with the fastest time. If the objective of drag racing were to reach the highest MPH, then #3 would be the fastest.

I wouldn't.

Who holds the title of fastest c6Z06 cam only??

It's interesting to hear what people think and how some people who have been around the sport for a long time differ in opinion on this simple issue.
Asuming the same reaction time who wins that race? Obviously the 10.15, but When Gary goes 9.99 he's gonna kill that schmuck who only ran 10.15, even without a cam...

Kidding aside, isnt the guy who wins the race faster?

That's why I feel the R/T should be added to the E/T for Who's the Fastest.

Look at some of these turbo cars, they wouldn't be where they are on the fast list if the R/T & E/T were added together.

Those mph are too close to argue your point...if the car that ran 10.55 actually hooked, it would slow down to 134-135 anyways.... so let me ask you this, which of these two cars would you want?
Car 1: 10.00 @ 135
Car 2: 11.57 @ 145

I would take car 2 all day, any day. Faster on the dragstrip only holds bragging rights at the dragstrip...the street is another story, because if the race happens from a rolling start, car #2 will destroy #1...given equal drivers and similar traction...

Comming from the turbocharged import side of the house, I can tell you that a little honda running 12 second ET.'s and trapping 120+mph will destroy most domestics running a full second quicker on the streets...the limiting factor being; most import drivers can't drive to save their lives, and traction is always an issue unless your AWD (compared to domestics anyways).

Case and point...I had a nissan 240sx with a japanese turbo engine (modded) that made 330rwhp...I got into a street race with a guy with an ls1 camaro with N2o that ran 11's...the best I ever ran with my nissan was a 12.7 @ 117mph...this guy and I ran from a 50mph roll...I could creep away from him at the top of my third gear (he was auto).....

so.... his car was QUICKER at the dragstrip....my car was FASTER on the street

reaction time doesn't affect ET... you can sit at the light all day...the timer doesn't start until you break the beam...those turbo guys are too busy building boost to worry about cutting a good light ...they know they can make it up on the back half of the track

trust me...I know

Good point, as that is exactly how it's done in actual competition (heads up, index racing etc.).
But the one flaw in adding R/T into the equation is that the guy who can't cut a good light and doesn't get to the line first might still have the faster car. An 11.0 second/125mph car can beat a 10.5 second/130mph all day long if the 11 second car's driver cuts a much better light.
That is real racing of course but for this particular discussion it doesn't truly prove which car is quicker/faster.

True. But couldn't one also say that 'faster on the street only holds bragging rights on the street' as well?

Truth is, just because a particular car is fast on the drag strip doesn't mean that it can't also be fast on the street as well, even from a high speed roll.
Not sure if you know this but not all of the cars on these fast lists are automatics with 4.56+ gears out back, there are quite a few manual cars with drivers that know exactly how to use them too. Some of these cars are absolutely brutally fast from a highway roll, and yes even some of the fast automatic ones can perform quite well on a highway.

Either way this particular discussion focuses on drag strip numbers so street racing isn't entirely relevant here.

Street racing is for dumbass punks...

Real racing is at the track - with a light and R/T counts...

Of course my R/Ts suck, but I'm practicing.

If my R/T and E/T were added together I'd be running solid 12.xx's... I better learn how to cut a light before the spring...

Good example Dave... when the ET is very close and both the MPH's are in different time zones, then one would almost feel guilty saying that the 9.94 is faster even though the 9.95 ran 12 MPH faster...

Bottom line - lower ET = Faster car...
