A 26x11.5x16 bias ply et street is a great tire to practice with in a manual c5.

You need to run skinnies up front and hammer the upper ball joint on some rims to get them not to rub.

Eventually, depending on hp, clutch, and few other variables you will want the tire pressure around 10-14psi cold.

With a car in the 450whp range you may want to start with the tire pressure around 20 psi and launch around 3800 rpms to start in order to get the feel of what the car should be doing on the launch.

My suggestion is to keep dropping the tire pressure about 2 psi @ a time at the same time raising the launch rpm.
Alot depends on throttle squeeze and clutch release as well but that's a topic for another time.

After the car and driver are fairly dialed in you'll want the tire pressure around 12 psi and launch rpm around 5000.

Shorter gears will help as well.

Is this a must when running a bias ply tire on the rear? No 245/45/17 radial up front?

Correct. Too risky.
Without skinnies run the hoosier 255 50 16 radial.
It's the closest to a slick.
Guys used run gto spare rims up front with skinnies to get by.

Ok. Assuming that clutch is a dual disk?
Been working with c5 manual cars for a long time now.

Replaced the noisy stock alternator for a mechman race alternator. Excellent quality and I got it half price.

Am I the only one that loves this build and attention to detail?

Are the numbers the norm? No, BUT please show me another car on here with the power steering pump, EWP, super light clutch, those great headers etc etc.. most people just throw a cam in there and that's it.

Thanks for the kind words haha. Been super busy lately and haven't been able to hit the track again. Also it's been over 100 degrees for weeks. I'd like to go back in November. I should have line lock and Hoosier drag radials by then. Hoping for a low 11 pass at 124

Once the temperature is below 70 I’ll go back. They just switched test and tune from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. Kind of bummed about that seeing you could get a bunch of passes after the sun went down on Friday nights.

Cool. I'll keep an eye out for updates. Where do you run? Do you have any trans brace or upgraded mounts?

Sacramento Raceway. I have Hinson short engine mounts. Everything else is stock. I'm planning on doing a RPM stage3 diff with 4:10's and a brace down the road.
