I don't think its the headers. They could definitely be part of it but the gains are really up high and the power carries much further. The fast intakes seem to peak sooner like the old graph.

The difference in the headers would show the gain mainly up top so its possible.

OP, I'm thinking about an MSD, just concerned about fit

I saw about the same increase and shift in power that you saw when I switched from an unported fast 102 to a mamo ported MSD. I also switched to the ported MSD so I could take my car up to 7500. That reason alone makes this intake worth it if your cam supports going that high. I had no issues with fitment but I do have shorter Hinson motor mounts.

What intake do you have now? I’m almost thinking the msd fits a little better because it’s flat on top and the fast is round, the fast doesn’t rub when I install it, it’s been on and off numerous times but has a flat spot on top from rubbing from driving it and motor moving and possibly shaking during idling, I’m going to be putting some hinson poly motor and trans mounts in so will be interesting if I loose any clearance from old mounts possibly being worn

Pretty much what I was thinking when I bought it, after seeing the results I think if your turning 7500+ the msd is better but anything below the fast is fine. Would like to know your build, haven’t seen any others with the msd!

If you take the 11 peak hp I made off we’ll say the headers made the extra hp, it’s little hard to tell since lines aren’t run out to 7500 but looks like it will still make somewhere between 15-20 extra there, you have to decide if that’s worth the cost difference, the Mamo msd is a good bit more than a fast, but it’s also possible to say maybe my motor has lost 5-10 hp in the last 2 yrs, doesn’t really matter in the end with the headers and msd I picked up probably 30 hp at 7500 so I’m happy with that, when your n/a every little bit counts, I mainly posted because I enjoy seeing other people’s builds and learning from them and hopefully this may help someone also, plus there is not a lot of info out there on the msd

Typically 4.10 gears dyno less than 3.73's. So if the car had different gears then I'd account for some extra gains.

I love how it carries the power up that high. How big is your cam?

LG doesn’t give the specs but I think it’s roughly 600/612 234/242, lsa is 112

One reason I like to stay at 6000 rpm with a stock oil pump is cavitation , as reported by this Melling link http://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech....59448f3dc4.png Does anyone have other ideas on this subject? Has any one used the 10355 pump. I believe it is the same as in my avalanche with afm. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Ron B.

I agree if a person isn’t planning on running up to 7500+ they would be better off with the FAST. I have a 11.8:1CR 416 Ls3 that Tony spec’d out for me. Tony knows his ****!!

have you looked into the Aviaid system LS"A" ? this might be the cure you are looking for... but at roughly $1400 its not cheap it looks like it retains your A/C just a thought...

Quoting you because that's exactly right.....the MSD sacrifices low speed torque and trades it for gains in peak power and even more gains past peak which you can see clearly in this set-up as well.

I documented all this at great length in the thread below. If you only planning on turning a max RPM of 7K or so the FAST is a better play but if you like the RPM's and have the valvetrain, heads, and cam to work in the higher RPM's the MSD is worth alot of power up there with a wider flatter curve really helping to add more average power to your run....but it needs the ability to RPM to show you its stuff

I know this thread is a few months old but I stumbled on it and thought it was worth clarifying.....the change in the shape of the power curve is all about the intake manifold swap I assure you.....looks exactly like the dyno results I conducted in the test below....its a good read.....check it out

Hope this helps
